Sources
[edit]I'm going to be working on this article -- and have found some news and book sources, not a lot, but some. Otherwise, there are a lot of galleries that have information about Ms. Lefcort, but it seems to me that they weren't considered impartial, reliable sources:
- https://www.artbrokerage.com/Allison-Lefcort/prints
- http://www.artnet.com/artists/allison-lefcort/past-auction-results
- http://artinsights.com/artists/lefcort-allison/
There's also what appears to be an image/marketing consulting firm that has a blog-like article about her: http://hummingbird-comms.com/index.php/tag/allison-lefcort/
Are any of these sources I could use? Thanks!--CaroleHenson (talk) 22:31, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, they're almost all PR sites, which I wouldn't trust for their degree of editorial oversight. I feel best about Artnet, but there's little there for you to use, no? The rest, I would deem unreliable. I would recommend looking in books or other printed sources. czar ♔ 17:23, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks for the input. That helps!--CaroleHenson (talk) 17:42, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
Need sources
[edit]Here's the information that I'm unable to find reliable sources for (i.e., original research?)
- In 1997 Lefcort painted the first portrait, Quincy Jones, in of a series of paintings for the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (The Grammy’s).
- <<she made portraits of>>: Sting, Phil Collins, Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole, Gloria Estefan, Bonnie Raitt, David Crosby, and Stevie Wonder
- Lefcort made a portrait of Tom Petty for Playboy for an article about the American singer-songwriter which was later published in the December 2002 issue of Playboy.
- King Hussein's portrait was included in an exhibition known as the "Peace Makers". His portrait was also seen during the 2004 Today show interview of Queen Noor by Katie Couric.
- In 2006 Lefcort created a "pop portrait" featuring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, for the release of Jerry Bruckheimer’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Later that year she created a portrait of Rod Stewart at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida.
- The Walt Disney Company approached Lefcort to interpret their characters in her "pop portrait style." In 1999 she was featured at an exhibition of interpretive art with Disney characters, including a limited edition of Tinker-bell. Lefcort interpreted Disney characters for other special events, including the Disneyana Conventions (1999–2001).
- Love Alli: Lefcort has diverged from her customery style for her "Love Alli" series, featuring a collection of hearts created in oil pastels. These hearts, originally produced as a gift for her mother have been reproduced in a number of limited editions including Seasons of Love, Love Always and Let Me Count the Ways.
- Exhibitions:
- 1992+ - Regularly exhibited at the Moon & Me Art Gallery of Boca Raton, Florida.
- 1995 - New York’s "International Art Expo," where works of such artists as Peter Max, Marc Chagall and Richard Avedon were also exhibited.
- 1995 - In conjunction with the opening of the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame, Lefcort’s "Rock Icons" were exhibited at the Griffon Gallery.
- 1995 - Her works were sold at Warner Bros. Studio Store in Manhattan and Los Angeles.
- 2004 to 2007 - Five solo exhibits in Japan, including iconic Rock-n-Roll, Hollywood star, and Disney images.
- By 2002 critics began to take notice of Lefcort’s flamboyant style of “bold imagery and bright colors”.
Does anyone know of WP:Reliable sources for this info?--CaroleHenson (talk) 06:53, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
