[edit]1) I couldn't find a complete discography anywer so I compiled several sources. I'm quite sure this list is incomplete... there is nothing from the 60s!
2) I'm not sure what the rules are for removing the "stub" designation but this seems like a fairly full entry to me. --Calan 07:59, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
3) Last night I got a copy of Allen Toussaint's Jazzity Project which was released in 2004. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maheshm (talk • contribs) 21:31, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
Treme (tv series)
[edit]Toussaint appeared as himself in a number of episodes of HBO's Treme_(TV_series), maybe worth mentioning as well? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.51.33.52 (talk) 16:04, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
Hurricane Katrina Tribute
[edit]Apparently Allen Toussaint recorded a charity single with J-pop superstar Mika Nakashima called "ALL HANDS TOGETHER" (all caps). I'll update the entry if I can find a better link [1]. The music video shows him playing piano while she sings. There are additional videos of him appearing on several television programs with her in Japan.--Burzum 02:10, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

House in New Orleans
[edit]Whats the status of his house? Did it gte rebuilt? Or is he still in New York?206.192.35.125 (talk) 14:14, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
Background as a musician
[edit]Does anybody know if it's appropriate to say he's a pianist and composer? I looked this up to find out what instruments he plays, but I didn't see the answer in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.250.69.208 (talk) 23:39, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
- In the Austin City Limits interview, he said he has played piano since he was 6. --ssd (talk) 01:52, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

- Support deletion. We have several good free licensed photos of Toussaint now; no need for a copyrighted one under "fair use". Infrogmation (talk) 19:04, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
Covers
[edit]The covers section should be broken up and moved to pages about each individual song or perhaps each album rather than as a long laundry list of data on the article about Toussaint himself. I'm tempted to add {{Cleanup-list}}
to the article but I'm not exactly sure if that's appropriate.
For example, you don't see a list of covers in Paul Simon's article or even in the List of songs written by Paul Simon. Instead they're listed in the song's article, like Mrs. Robinson. Jeff d kirby (talk) 17:35, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
Date of death
[edit]Although reliable sources state that he died on Monday 9th (or, after a concert on 9th) this source gives more specific details - that he suffered a cardiac arrest back at his hotel, after the concert, and that doctors were called at 1.15 am (Central European Time) on Tuesday 10th. He was resuscitated, but suffered a second cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital, and was pronounced dead on arrival there. So, the article should state that he died on November 10, not 9. Ghmyrtle (talk) 16:00, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
Aliases
[edit]Discogs gives his aliases as including: "A Toussaint, A. Toussaint, A. R. Toussaint, A. Tossanti, A. Touissant, A. Tousaint, A. Tousan, A. Tousant, A. Toussain, A. Toussaint, A. Toussanint, A. Toussaint, Touissant, Tousaint, Toussain, Toussaint, Toussant, Toussiunt, Tussiant." I guess we should stick to only a few in the infobox. Martinevans123 (talk) 12:16, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- Most of those are simply mis-spellings, which we can ignore. The infobox should only include the known (and sourced) pseudonyms - which, at the moment, it does. Ghmyrtle (talk) 13:20, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
Images
[edit]Do we need both the 2007 and 2009 images of him performing? They seem rather similar, except that his hair is grayer/greyer in the later one... Ghmyrtle (talk) 17:19, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- I must admit I thought the very same thing. They do seem to prompt a disappointing comparison. No strong views. Martinevans123 (talk) 17:31, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
Allen Toussaint discography
[edit]Support split - Discography section takes up more than one third of the page, and should be split to a new article entitled Allen Toussaint discography. --Jax 0677 (talk) 01:49, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Comment. It depends on whether other editors are planning to expand the article. It's astounded me, over the last few days, that so few editors (and apparently no Americans) have taken enough interest in this article to improve it. The article, including the discography, still needs a lot of work to bring it up to a reasonable standard, and unfortunately the veto by one editor against its appearance on the main page means that most editors won't be reminded of its existence. If the article is going to be improved, and particularly if the discography is going to be expanded and improved, it should be hived off into a new article. But, as it is, there seems little point in doing so. Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:52, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
- If you'd like, I could do some work on it when I get a little time. I've been meaning to eventually do some New Orleans R&B stuff--I've been trying to build up the garage treasury and get it to the point where it is well represented enough Wikiwise, but eventually I'd like to branch out a bit. You may know that I'm from New Orleans--born and raised. These very words are being typed about six blocks from the Mississippi River. So, I have a feel for the whole locale, which might be helpful. I got to meet Toussaint on time and he was very kind. I'd see him driving around in his 70s-era Rolls Royce out by Bayou St. Jean. So, I was really shocked to hear of his death. - Reply @Garagepunk66: your help would be much appreciated. --Jax 0677 (talk) 14:20, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

- Well, great moniker nonetheless! Garagepunk66 (talk) 15:45, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
No objection to separate article for discography, where hopefully it could be expanded and improved. I was equally astounded. And equally disappointed he did not appear at Main Page. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:25, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
Toussaint's/Meters' developments preceded the 1970s
[edit]I made a few corrections and slight changes in text/format. Toussaint's move towards funk began during the Sansu period in the mid to late 60s and reached fruition in the 1970s, but it did not start in the 70s as the article (unsourced) previously made it seem. Rather, it was the result of a longer process. One can clearly hear this early funk development in records (backed by members of the Meters) in classics such as "Working on a Coal Mine" and "Ride Your Pony," that have a markedly pronounced syncopation. I moved discussion of his work with the Meters as a backing band to the Sanso sub-section. Garagepunk66 (talk) 23:26, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
