2 oppose vs. 1 support; stale discussion. closing Qalb alasid (talk) 18:41, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There are only two sources that cover this song in any significant detail: SFGate and Country Thang Daily; the other sources I found with a quick search only have passing mentions. Per WP:NSINGLE, the song should ideally be discussed in the article on the album rather than in its own article, as it has little chance of expanding beyond a start-class article. • Oppose - The song on its own far outshines the album in notoriety, significant enough to have an article (however brief) on its own. Rustttic (talk) 06:32, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ceoil and Rustttic: Would you two be willing to share the sources that justify keeping "This is Us" as a separate article? TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 13:50, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
• @TechnoSquirrel69 It's the main song from the album and last I checked it was Knopfler's 5th most played song in his discography on Apple Music & Spotify. It deserves a stand-alone page. Rustttic (talk) 14:15, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Rustttic: From the standpoint of notability on Wikipedia, the number of plays a song has on streaming services is entirely irrelevant to the question of whether it merits its own article. The standard that needs to be met is the existence of multiple reliable, indepedent sources that contain significant coverage of the subject. Do those exist for this song? Additionally, to quote the notability guideline for songs, "articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album", which I believe is the situation here.
