Fair use rationale for Image:The Rutles.JPG

[edit]

Image:The Rutles.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Why is cast list incomplete?

[edit]

The actors who played the two blues musicians, Blind Lemon Pie and Ruttlin' Orange Peel, are not credited. Why? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cartwright27 (talkcontribs) 08:15, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cleo Rocos ?

[edit]

There is a scene of screaming teenage girls chasing the band members ( and a policeman complaining about being overwhelmed by a mob of "little girls" ). One of the ( not-so-little ) girls looks suspiciously like a young Cleo Rocos. Actually her, or just a coincidence ? Anyone know ?

I was going to ask something similar - a girl looking very like young Cleo Rocos also appears in the "Roof-Top Concert" scene, sitting on the left of the scene, wearing a red sweater...

"Rutles music was written and performed by the original Beatles"

[edit]

Not long after All You Need Is Cash first aired in Britain, a conspiracy theory appeared: the Rutles sound like the Beatles, because the music was written and performed by the Beatles themselves as a self-parody. The first time I heard this claim - on a radio station in Liverpool, ironically enough - was when a spokesman ( for Lennon ? ) had publicly issued a statement denying the rumour.
If anyone has a citable reference, would it be worth mentioning in the article, as public reaction to the movie ?

== I believe there is some confusion here. At one point, Neil Innes was sued by people representing The Beatles. ( Not the Beatles themselves whom were okay with The Rutles.) This lead, at one point, to all The Rutles material being credited to Lennon/McCartney/Innes. ( Even the songs that parodied works by George Harrison, and other songs not written by The Beatles! ) Several people took this as rote information. Neil Innes was the sole author of all The Rutles works, as noted on the originally released album. 75.104.182.200 (talk) 20:38, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ron Decline

[edit]

I remember reading a really long time ago that the Ron Decline character was based upon the real life exploits of Don Arden. I dunno, though. Something tells me that given the stories of violent behavior associated with Arden, that we would have heard more about this if Arden himself felt he was being mocked like this.RadioKAOS (talk) 15:41, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ron Decline is obviously based on Allen Klein; John Belushi even looks a lot like Klein. 2.100.40.143 (talk) 22:11, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Martini (McQuickley) & Penelope (O'Hara) ...

[edit]

Bianca Jagger as "Martini" is noted, but, not noted that she is supposed to be a pastiche of "Linda Eastman". ( The footage of Dirk & Martini with the sheepdog, is a parody of Paul & Linda & Martha in the promo film for The Beatles version of "Something". )

"Penelope", played by Rikki Fataar's then wife, Penelope Tree, a popular 60's model, is meant to be a pastiche of Patti Boyd. ( Most notably seen during the "Arthur Sultan" segment. ). She IS noted in the film credits, and soundtrack album, but only as "Penelope".

Retconned in "Can't Buy Me Lunch" - so it's dubious to canon - is Ron Nasty's first wife, "Carinthia", played by Carinthia West. ( Seen chasing after the train as The Rutles leave to meet "Arthur Sultan", in "All You Need Is Cash". This scene apparently mocks an actual event, where in Cynthia Lennon missed the train when the Beatles went to see the Maharishi in Wales. )

Co-incidentally ... Carinthia West also plays, "The Bigamy Sisters", the woman Barry Wom gets married to. She is not named within the film, but, is named during the end credits and in the soundtrack album. ( Oddly, she is noted as "sisters", but there is only ever one seen. )

Not quite sure how one would fit all of this - if necessary - into the main article. Some is relevant, some is debatable. Yours for the choosing. 75.104.182.200 (talk) 20:28, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
