I'll be reviewing this article for possible GA status. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 13:16, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, I believe this article is not up to GA standards at this time. Please feel free to renominate once the below concerns have been addressed. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 15:08, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Writing and formatting

[edit]
  • Underlinked - please add more internal links to satisfy WP:Build the web. There are also some inappropriate links - for example, why does "eponymous" link to "White Mischief", especially given that that article is already linked at the beginning of the section? CHECK
  • Biographical articles should have WP:Persondata CHECK
  • Make sure all occurrences of "Janzé" have the correct accent. Name consistency is a general issue - for example, Ogden vs Odgen, de Trafford vs De Trafford
  • Numerous typos and grammatical errors - please copy-edit thoroughly
  • Organization needs work. Too many subheadings under "Biography". Could even make these headings and remove "Biography. Subheadings are inconsistent and at times confusing or unnecessarily complicated. Could combine "White Mischief" and "In culture" (and possibly "Descendants") into "Legacy"
  • Avoid run-on sentences and short one- to two-sentence paragraphs
  • Per WP:MOS, italics are only used for quotations if they are present in the original CHECK
  • The two list-like sections should become prose
  • Wikilinks in the article text should not be duplicated in "See also" CHECK

Accuracy and verifiability

[edit]
  • There are several contradictions in the article. For example, the lead claims she died in October, while the infobox says September CHECK
  • Be careful to reproduce direct quotes exactly, and double-check for inconsistencies
  • "In culture" and "Descendants" both need more citations
  • Need more consistency in referencing format. Newspapers and books need page numbers; websites need accessdates, titles and publishers. Check for typos and errors in referencing
  • Blogs do not qualify as reliable sources CHECK
  • I have serious doubts about the reliability of the Frances Osborne article, given its language and obvious elaboration
  • Be sure to differentiate between titles and subtitles when referencing newspapers - ref 36 gives the wrong title CHECK
  • The external links add absolutely nothing of value and should be removed CHECK

Broad

[edit]
  • More relevant details needed, more irrelevant details should be removed. For example, a brief explanation of "happy Valley set" would be helpful in addition to the linked article, but there's no need to include information on who else was held in the same jail cell

Neutrality

[edit]
  • Please see WP:WTA and WP:WEASEL - certain words introduce an editorial bias and should be avoided
  • Even if everything in the article is cited, it's still necessary to write it according to NPOV, avoiding judgment and editorialization

Stability

[edit]
  • No issues - largely the work of a single contributor. I would suggest getting someone else to read over the article, just to get another opinion CHECK

Images

[edit]
  • You needn't bold her name in image captions, except maybe the one in the infobox CHECK
  • Date for the infobox image needs to be fixed - should reflect the date the image was taken/published, not the date it was uploaded CHECK
  • Check consistency between the description given for Alice_silverthorne.jpg and the corresponding information at the source link CHECK
  • You should probably refer to her as "Alice Silverthorne" or simply "Alice" in the captions of images taken before her marriage. Also, make sure that your captions are verifiable - you don't know that she was 20 in a certain picture because only the year is provided, thus it could have been taken before or after her birthday CHECK
  • HappyValley.jpg - Trzebinski is not the sole author of that book
  • The FUR for AliceFred.jpg claims that it is the only available picture to illustrate Frederic de Janze - this is untrue, as he is included in the Happy Valley image. Furthermore, the fair-use newspaper tag clearly indicates that "Use of the image merely to depict a person or persons in the image will be removed." A similar issue exists for the obituary photo CHECK
  • Why is her obituary photo included alongside the section about Erroll's murder? CHECK
  • Sarahmiles.jpg includes no fair-use rationale, and no copyright information CHECK

Count of Janzé

[edit]

Why people says "De Janzé" when it's spelled "Janzé", without the "of", when the title is not here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.91.51.235 (talk) 04:53, 2 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
