Clarification needed

[edit]

"She was bisexual, and her husband knew it and would throw tantrums over her lesbian affairs."

She had three husbands; which one does this refer to?

Paul Lawrence Dunbar — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.230.53.53 (talk) 09:01, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

She had multiple affairs during her life time; however, due to being betrothed to her the longest time, Robert Nelson and Paul Lawrence Dunbar complained the most frequently. That specific excerpt in the article refers to Paul L. Dunbar. The source briefly mentions the affairs. Apparent contradiction

[edit]

The text says that Nelson was born in Louisiana, but the biographical box says Massachusetts. Which is correct? Nolabob (talk) 17:14, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Both the date and place of birth were inaccurate in parts of the article. After consulting the sources, New Orleans is correct, and the article has been changed to reflect that. Icarus of old (talk) 17:36, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Massively Inconsistent Use of Name

[edit]

In the Personal Life section, the use of the name 'Moore' and 'Nelson' are used interchangeably. ex. "Moore graduated from the teaching program at Straight University (later merged into Dillard University) in 1892 and worked as a teacher in the public school system of New Orleans at Old Marigny Elementary.[1] Nelson lived in New Orleans for twenty-one years."

This is likely due to different editors working on the same article, but it would be helpful for the usage of names to reflect the chronology of her life. (If the article is describing her childhood, she is unmarried, and therefore her name at that time would have been Alice Ruth Moore.) Also, due to the fact that her official last name, Dunbar-Nelson, is comprised of the names of two separate individuals, it might be best to use the name "Alice" in places where 'Dunbar-Nelson' is used. Of course, it may be easily understood who is being referred to by the 'Dunbar-Nelson' name, the same logic applies to using the name 'Alice' in these places. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Willace01 (talkcontribs) 02:39, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
