Dalmazzo–Këlcyra agreement in March 1943

[edit]

Does anyone has any evidence that it really happened??? The first reference to such an agreement (ceasefire between Balli Kombëtar and Italian troops led by Dalmazzo) I found is on page 234 of the historical overview written by Pollo & Puto in 1981, The History of Albania, which was adopting the party line when constructing the history of world war ii, so its reliability is questionable. I also see that Elsie in his Historical Dictionary of Albania took this information over without any criticism of the source. I also see that as of December 1945 the communist newspapers started a campaign claiming that Këlcyra and Merlika-Kruja had been preparing the Italian occupation of Albania, but no mention of a 1943 pact. But other than that I cannot find any trace of this alleged agreement, although I checked through a few monographs on Albanian history: Jacques, Pearson, Vickers, Zavalani haven't mentioned a single word about such pact between Dalmazzo and Këlcyra.
