bad joke, or propaganda?

[edit]

In Wikipedia the article 4th "Ali Demi" Battalion says for years: "The 4th "Ali Demi" Battalion (Albanian: Batallioni IV "Ali Demi", Greek: Δ' Τάγμα "Αλή Ντέμη") was a battalion under the 15th Regiment of Greek People's Liberation Army, founded during the Second World War."

and sources that some people dont like, are deteted as "synthesis" because Ali Demi Battalion says that is not the same with IV/15 battalion!!! This is a very bad joke.

I suggest you carefully word your comments if you do wish to be able to edit Wikipedia in the long term. Resnjari showed some concerns and some common ground should be found here. Ktrimi991 (talk) 10:01, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you to read the first line of wikipedia article about ali demi batallion that was the 4/15 battalion of elas and you forbid to write it here4th "Ali Demi" Battalion. Is it a kind of joke? Sorry i don't understand. --Αντικαθεστωτικός (talk) 10:08, 1 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Its not a joke. At the very least the source should mention Ali Demi and then the battalion/unit/regiment/group/band or something like that. I respect Baltsiotis as an academic but you cited his work and in that specific one it does not say Ali Demi. How can that then go into this article? By adding it is wp:synthesis and somewhat wp:OR. Please consult those wiki guidelines and policies. Thank you.Resnjari (talk) 16:10, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ali Demi founder of Communist Party

[edit]

He was in Shkodra Group. If someone can help, i seek more informations about him. page 217. From Hoxha works. https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/hoxha/works/ebooks/sw/vol6.pdf

Do you have material for his communist activity in Albanian? Thank you in advance. --Αντικαθεστωτικός (talk) 15:34, 2 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just for a heads up. A dictator's propaganda works are not credible sources of information for use within Wikipedia.Resnjari (talk) 16:04, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
the same from : A Biographical Dictionary of Albanian History By Robert Elsie. I will bring more if i can. --Αντικαθεστωτικός (talk) 16:19, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If an acedmic has analysed a source and then cited it in their work that's different as per wp:secondary. But using that link above and adding to the article, it wont stand as one its wp:primary and two, well as i said previously, a work done by a dictator.Resnjari (talk) 16:32, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
thats why i put this in the talk page. Ali Demi was for sure comrade of the dictator and also between the founders of communist party. I wonder if we can found anything in albanian from historians or journalists. --Αντικαθεστωτικός (talk) 17:39, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure but there might be. Overall though the communist period of the country is highly contested among historians in Albania, due to their pasts or political affiliations etc (see Brisku 2013, p.17: [1]. Caution is advised when it comes to those sources. Best.Resnjari (talk) 17:50, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
caution always, but some things are so obvious. He was a hero of ELAS. What else he could be? We have two sources at least, one secondary and one primary.--Αντικαθεστωτικός (talk) 18:13, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes a primary source mentions him but for use in the article, secondary sources are best (there already is one of Kretsi in the article). As for his stature within ELAS or how they viewed him, have no idea. Best.Resnjari (talk) 18:18, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
