Alexeyevsky or Alxeevsky?

[edit]

Is the correct name Alexeyevsky or Alxeevsky? This webpage uses the latter name when discussing the 2011 Antonov An-148 crash. It is published by the Ukranian manufacturer of the aircraft, so it should be reliable. However, my knowledge of Russian is virtually nil, so I'm not in a position to say for sure that it is the correct name. Mjroots (talk) 08:15, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Assuming that you intended to spell the second variant as "Alexeevsky" (and not "Alxeevsky"), both are correct. It's just the matter of choice of the romanization system, and, depending of the choice, at least a dozen other, equally correct, spellings is possible. "Alexeyevsky" is chosen as the title of this page solely because of WP:RUS, which is a Wikipedia guideline dealing with the romanization of Russian. Hope this helps.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); March 7, 2011; 15:56 (UTC)
