[edit]I think your article a good one and provides consideration regarding the confusion on the family lines. I agree with your note regarding the Tourney to which this is supposed to refer. Although my French is not good it seems strange that those four armorials are included together if they refer to the same event. Your source seems to refer to page 38 of vol 1 of that document which relates to events of about 1295 and specifically mentions John de Balliol and John de Soulis. The armorial on the page referenced seems to be that of Sir William Soulis (barry of six) (his father's name was Nicholas so no confusion there). If these gentlemen appeared on the same field then it must have been about 1295-1300. Even then Soulis must have been very young as most sources suggest he was born about 1280. However if this is so then Alexander III was dead well before that date. If Alexander is stated to have been there Sir William Soulis could not have been. Of course it probably goes without saying that it would be difficult to suggest that Bruce and Baliol would appear at the same event any time between 1295-1300. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Family locator (talk • contribs) 01:12, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
