The architectural influences of this church

[edit]

Architecturally similar Russian churches existed in Kars, Oltu, Sarikimish, Kanaker in Yerevan, Alexandropol, and several other places in the Caucasus that I know about (as well as the Holy Myrrhbearers Cathedral in Baku, which I didn't know about until I saw the article). They are all slightly later than the Baku cathedral and are associated mostly with the Russian military. Was this similarity because these other churches had the same architects as the Baku cathedral, or because the Russian military had a standard design for its churches, or just because of the direct influence of this particular church? How different is the design of the Baku cathedral from large churches constructed in other parts of the Russian empire at this time? Meowy 20:35, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Russian Wikipedia says the architect of the Holy Myrrhbearers Cathedral was F.M. Verzhbitsky. Meowy 20:55, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
