Alcoholic Cardiomyopathy Workplan
[edit]Alcoholism is a growing issue in the world. I believe that it is important that information regarding alcoholic cardiomyopathy be easily accessible to the public. I came across this article and would like to work on adding information to it. The information that I would like to see added to this article should be easy to understand by both those knowledgeable in medicine and those without a background in medicine.
The article lists the following sections: a general overview, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment. The article is quite simple and easy to read, however, additional information on pathophysiology should be added, as well as additional sources. There are only two sources listed in the article. One is a paper written in 1967 in CMAJ JAMC and the other is a source for medications used to treat alcoholic cardiomyopathy on www.drugs.com. These sources are neutral and the links are accessible, but they are out of date and not as reliable as other available sources. I tend to look up resources that are more current.
The article says that alcoholic cardiomyopathy can be caused by chronic use of alcohol. I would like to add what would qualify as "chronic" alcohol use. Some facts that I noticed that were listed without having sources: the age and sex most commonly affected. As stated above, I would also like to include more information on the pathophysiology related to alcoholic cardiomyopathy. By understanding how alcohol is causing these heart issues, I believe individuals will be more likely to see how detrimental this health issue can be. Roddamar (talk) 01:39, 14 March 2023 (UTC)

Peer review
[edit]I agree that sources need to be updated and defining "chronic" alcohol use/abuse could be elaborated on.
