Sources
[edit]I've found out a little more:
- Bloodlines.net says that Curwen's Bay Barb was his sire. (Can't find this in any other source. If it was common knowledge, it would have been mentioned. Think they confused Crab's dam's parentage with Alcock's Arabian.) Apparently produced foals until 1726. [1]
- Crab was is most significant offspring. Aimwell was the only Derby winner not descended from the Big Three (Darley, Godolphin or Byerley) [2].
- Reportedly "covered few mares." Crab's racing record [3]
- His tail-male line is indeed extinct, but he is represented in female lines [4]

Background
[edit]I think that the above could a "let's-not-fight-about-it" heading for the disputed "Origin(s)/Name(s) section. It's a pretty neutral heading and has caused no problems in hundreds of articles on tb racehorses. Tigerboy1966 00:18, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
