My Name is Jefferey P. Hart, Albert B Hart I was my grandfather's (Albert B Hart III) grandfather. I'm trying to do some geneological research, and ultimately will update some of the information about Professor Hart (as we call him to distinguish from the other two AB Harts) such as his marriage to Mary Hurd Putnam in 1869 or so. I've got 8 sources for his Birth July 1, 1854 in Clarkesville, Green Cty, Pennsylvania. But what would be really helpful would be sources to support or disconfirm that He adopted a pair of twin boys (prob) from Germany and named them Albert B Jr and Adrian P. Adoption or birth records would be great. Can't find birth records, and don't know where to look for adoption records, if they even kept any. I DO have them both listed on the 1900 census as members of the household. Their age is given at 3 years. Albert's name is misspelled in 1900. Same thing in 1910, but with correct spellings. The census data shows his residence history as:

1880 (age 25) w/ parents and siblings in Cleavland
1900 Chambridge Ward 1, Middlesex Cty, Massachusetts w/ wife and kids
1910 Chambridge Ward 9, ", ", "

1920 still living in chambridge ward 9, at age 65 is now listed as "boarder" instead of head of household, and is listed with the following people. It looks like several families moved in when the kids moved out?? :
Elmer P Sargent 50
Marion W Sargent 51
Helen T Sargent 24
Mary Brown 44
Selina Brennan 49
Emma M Venn 35
Albert B Hart 65
Mary P Hart 61
Isabelle G Hudley 70
Ella M Frank 61
Anna M Prince 73
Mary G Hursted 50
Henrietta Paige 75
Irene I Fagg 26

I've also got his records coming back from England and arriving in New York at age 72 on the ship "Orca" (remember Jaws?" on 6 Sept 1926 which sailed(or steamed, I would imagine) from Southampton, England. There are other passport and travel records, but they're a little ambiguous, and I'm not sure if they're his or someone else's, but this one lists his spouse and all sorts of great information. So. . .

Does anyone have an opinion on Professor Hart or these documents? Does anyone know where to look for Mass. Adoption records? Do you recognize any of his roommates?

Also, according to family verbal history, there is a scholarship at Harvard in his name, and a room full of his historical artifacts and such. Anybody know about this? Anybody been in the Dr. A B Hart room?

thanks, and feel free to contact me directly if you want. jprefect@hotmail.com Jprefect (talk) 15:19, 4 August 2008 (UTC) Jprefect (talk) 15:21, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Minor comment: "Early Years" actually covers his whole life. Scribe2u (talk) 04:16, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
