I have removed needs expert, expand article and stub tags, following an extensive clean up (the article's sequence was very confused), Jheald 16:04, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Puppeteer

"He is also an accomplished puppeteer." I have looked for sources for this statement online, and could find no reference to it at all. It seems like quite an unusual and specific claim to make in an article, and in the absence of a reliable source, I wonder whether it might be better removed. I have not done so myself, since it is not libellous and someone here may actually be able to cite a source I have not found. Leevclarke (talk) 13:31, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Theme music tribute

There appears to be a disagreement about the inclusion of the text:

"Over the titles of the bulletin, on ITV1, February 2, 2004 - January 15, 2006, and the 1988 - 1992, 1992 - 1999 News at Ten theme was played instead of the ITV News theme, as a tribute to Stewart. Over the opening and closing titles of the bulletin, on ITV1, January 16, 2006 - January 13, 2008, and the 1992 - 1999, 1988 - 1992 News at Ten theme was played instead of the ITV News theme, as a tribute to Stewart."

This text appears to be un-sourced, and confusingly written – it claims to cover fours years' worth of theme music? Could the anonymous editor who keeps restoring it, please indicate why it should form part of this article. Thanks. -- MightyWarrior (talk) 10:17, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Reason for ITV departure

The media has been quite reticent over this. On 13 January 2020, he apparently quoted Shakespeare to Martin Shapland on Twitter, Measure for Measure Act 2, Scene 2 "but man, proud man, Drest in a little brief authority, Most ignorant of what he's most assured, His glassy essence, like an angry ape".[1][2]--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 06:45, 30 January 2020 (UTC)

Heavy smoker

Shouldn't it be mentioned that he was a chain smoker? This probably caused his vascular dementia. (2A00:23C5:C416:A601:708B:81C5:9A73:A4BD (talk) 18:45, 4 April 2024 (UTC))

Yes, The Telegraph tells us: "smoked since his teens and once smoked 40 cigarettes a day". And also The Guardian: "Stewart is also a Rolling Stones fan and a heavy smoker who has been known to stop his car on the way to the office to squeeze in a few more cigarettes before work". Martinevans123 (talk) 18:56, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
Smoking 40 cigarettes a day wasn't all that unusual some years ago. It's not that noteworthy unless there is clear medical evidence that it caused problems.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 19:05, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
That's true. But it was just as dangerous for all who did. I think it may be noteworthy in the context of his diagnosis and his efforts to give up (which have now been successful). I agree it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to find any source that says "smoking probably caused his vascular dementia". Martinevans123 (talk) 19:11, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
