It seems okay to keep separate or to merge, as the articles are linked and there is no confusion. Isn't "Lawing" the community the larger topic, into which the Homestead could be merged more naturally as a section, though? The former roadhouse mentioned in the homestead article is not described as part of the homestead, for example. I don't care though.
