Swim coach Thompson stood down

[edit]

If my adding of this information is a considered a bit too early, considering the allegations are in fact "anonymous and unsubstantiated" PLEASE REVERT IT IMMEDIATELY. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 11:15, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This story here (aussie-swimming-sex-abuse-allegations) relates to FORMER Australian swim team coach and manager Terry Buck who Thompson replaced. The current allegations are NOT related. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 13:06, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, I don't think it is too early to add something - it's probably better to say something now, in proper context, than to wait and see what gets randomly added. :) Remembering, of course, that there doesn't seem to be much to say about the allegations. Those sources look good, by the way. - Bilby (talk) 13:14, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well thanks Bilby. Think it's a good idea to find out about the guy, and maybe expand, his article before crapping on him. In fact he only had 2 lines! And no references. Most of the news stories are just re-hashing this statement from Swimming Australia CEO Kevin Neil. Statement from Swimming Australia CEO Kevin Neil
Fell free to add anythig relevent from those articles, it's a bit hard to find 'good' stuff about him at the moment. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 13:34, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

More relevant coverage:

NOTE: many stories are mixing coverage of Alan Thompson and the deceased FORMER coach Terry Buck, who has been accused of sexual abuse. Both stories 'broke' on the same day. Be cautious not to mix them up. NOTE ALSO there is another former Olympic swimming team coach also called Thompson.--220.101.28.25 (talk) 22:58, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

BIG Update

[edit]

I spent a few hours updating this article. It's now about 13 times bigger (was 2 lines!). My cites are very basic. If anyone wants to make them a bit more 'compact' please do. (Though it's about time I leaned to do it myself!) --220.101.28.25 (talk) 13:31, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
