Betrayed
[edit]The page about Anna Heilman claims that Gertner "betrayed" her co-conspirators by leaking the plot to an SS officer:
Estusia was betrayed when Ala Gertner told an SS officer she had befriended and trusted about the plot. She, Roza, Regina, and Ala were taken to the "Bunker" inside the main camp and tortured for months. They never gave up Hana's name. They only gave names of Sonderkommando members who were already dead.
Estusia, Regina, Ala and Roza were hanged on January 5, 1945, just under two weeks before the advancing Soviet Red Army reached Auschwitz. The entire women's camp was forced to watch the executions. ...
If true, shouldn't this be discussed on Gertner's page? Eclecticos 07:58, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes, this is an important issue -- and a sensitive one, as there is a tremendous amount of contradictory information regarding the Sonderkommando rebellion, including the question of who confessed to what; it was not an SS officer but another Auschwitz prisoner, a Czech informant named Koch, who apparently elicited information from Ala. The Lore Shelley book cited in the "suggested reading" is the best source of information.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Drann (talk • contribs) .
Date of execution
[edit]There seems to be some disagreement about the date of execution: I found a source giving January 6 instead of January 5. I presume that the 5th is the correct date, but it is worth noting the dispute in the article: if anyone has more info, please add. Cheers. Grover cleveland 18:26, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
S. Pivnik Biography
[edit]Interestingly, https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Sam_Pivnik was from the same town and also temporarily moved to the Jewish Ghetto in Kamionka. His bio does not mention her but there was a 14-year difference in age and obviously not everyone knew what happened to everyone else.--Jrm2007 (talk) 18:32, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

It's a decent article, but it needs references. jaco♫plane 22:54, 17 November 2006 (UTC) |
