Transliteration
[edit]US Trav3l3r citing this tourism website, has taken the huge step to replace all mentions in Wikipedia of "al-'Ula " to "AlUla", including for this article's title.
Worse, even the old mentions have been removed . . .
It goes without saying, that a tourist website does not constitute enough material to change the title, which is based on a principle of least surprise or consistency with other titles. At best the other spelling can only be included as a "second spelling", for instance "al-'Ula's tourist website spells the city's name AlUla".
WP:TRANSLITERATE does not point to a page for Arabic. But I'm confident that this is not consistent with the various norms and customs for the Transliteration of Arabic. CamelCase is extremely rare in languages, let alone romanization.
So far there have been about 120 such edits. This needs to stop . . .

The Neolithic
[edit]Jane McMahon from the University of Western Australia is researching this: The mustatils: cult and monumentality in Neolithic north-western Arabia is a paper from 2021, and there may be a more recent one. Here's a longform BBC Travel article about Neolithic structures in AlUla, dated today. (Yes, by WP:SOFIXIT I should add it to the article instead of posting here, and I'm probably just talking to myself, but I might come back to this.) Card Zero (talk) 15:12, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
