Category as Universities in Israel

[edit]

I added that because a) there's no "Category:Universities in Palestinian Terriries", and b) it's useful (i.e., people looking for universities, whether Palestinian or Israeli, will want to use the cat). In other words, it's helpful; please see Wikipedia is not the UN. -Patstuarttalk|edits 14:48, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please rest assured I had no battles in mind, in fact I steer clear of middle-east topics for that same reason, problem is though that Gaza, no matter how you define it, is not considered part of Israel by anyone, this distinguishes it from say, the Golan Heights or East-Jerusalem. If the Arab University in Jerusalem is to be categorised I feel both categories (Unis in Israel, Unis in PT) could be used, or maybe even should be used at the same time.

Using a 'Universities in Israel' cat is best not done, not because of any political wrangling on my side but because it would be factually incorrect. --Isolani 11:00, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Al-Azhar Logo.gif

[edit]

Image:Al-Azhar Logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Relationship with Al-Azhar University Cairo

[edit]

The Al-Azhar University article implies that the university in Gaza is a branch of Al-Azhar University in Cairo. Is this accurate? If so this should be stated here. Verbcatcher (talk) 03:26, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Source for claims regarding attack on the university

[edit]

As far as I can tell, no reliable source has verified the claims of an attack on the university. And claiming that a certain party did it without citing a source is really not something that should be happening here. If this is covered/verified in a reliable source then I'm fine with it being added to the page but tweets of an unverified video are not a reliable source. @Moav that source cited a Twitter post which is not considered reliable. furthermore there is no evidence of it being an IDF strike Philipnelson99 (talk) 06:08, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
