There was WWII Airborne relay as well. The Germans were guiding their night fighters toward Allied bombers. Soon, the British would use a Mosquito with operators mimicking the German ground controllers and confusing the fighters. So the Germans switched to female operators, betting the Allies would not put women into aircraft over Axis territory. They were right, but the Mosquitos soon had airborne relay from German-fluent female operators back in the UK, cursing out the actual ones and deepening the German pilots uncertainty.
