Sorting the sponsorships and adding the impact it had

[edit]

There is just a list of the sponsorships that the Jordan brand has around the world, which doesn't really have a description of what the brand is donating and specifically who they are giving these donations to. Could be elaborated and organized thoroughly. Not Kebin (talk) 17:20, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

By all means, do this. Long context-free lists of sponsored athletes on sportswear articles is not the best Wikipedia trend. 70.163.208.142 (talk) 19:17, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Jordan Apparel

[edit]

Air Jordan refers more to when talking about the shoes but under the Jordan name there are many more products. On the Nike website shoes also fall under Jordan, so should the other products be included in this article or should they have a different article for themselves? Maxine206 (talk) 17:23, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This was discussed at #Split proposal November 12, 2021; one editor suggested "a brief explanation about what Jordan brand is". I did that here, but the lead has since been expanded and it has not been retained. I'll likely retry adding it.
Somewhat related, I think the expanded lead might make the "Background" section redundant, and they have different reliably sourced figures for Michael Jordan's earnings. 70.163.208.142 (talk) 19:54, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction

[edit]

The introduction is very detailed, but I think that since the second paragraph puts a lot of emphasis on the Jumpman logo, it can be included in the background category as it states the background history of where the logo was influenced from. Karisse21 (talk) 17:40, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I moved it down. Wes sideman (talk) 12:51, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

First year sales, $26 million vs $126 million

[edit]

Under "History", it reads, "Sales greatly exceeded expectations, earning $126 million in one year". This is sourced to FanNation,[1] part of Sports Illustrated. Fox News has an article about Peter Moore that has the same figure,[2] attributed to Sports Illustrated. But Esquire says "$26m";[3] it quotes 2020 documentary The Last Dance. I haven't seen The Last Dance, but that figure makes more sense to me. Sales volume has its own conflicting sources; here it reads "sold out at 50,000 pairs" and confusingly attaches $150m to that, sourced to EssentiallySports.[4] Fox News uses The Ringer which says "1.5 million [units] in the first six weeks", which Esquire also says. Any thoughts on what we should use? 70.163.208.142 (talk) 17:35, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
