Start Date

[edit]

My father's military record shows he was assigned to the 4145AAFBU in Wendover, Utah, on 23 Sept 1946. Perhaps the start date in this article is incorrect.

The start date in the article and the lineage are taken from Mueller, Robert (1989). Air Force Bases, Vol. I, Active Air Force Bases Within the United States of America on 17 September 1982 (PDF). Washington, DC: Office of Air Force History. p. 249. ISBN 0-912799-53-6.. However, this list is not consistent with the list of host organizations in the same book on page 245. I have seen a source that indicates the 4145th AAF Base Unit (Air Base) was organized as early as 12 June 1946. The 16 March 1947 date appears to be the date that the unit either moved to Alamogordo or was redescribed as an experimental unit. Unfortunately, unless there's a reliable source for the earlier date, Wiki will be using the one that's available. --Lineagegeek (talk) 21:50, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's quite possible that the unit was active at Wendover in 1946, as when the JB-2 testing at Wendover closed up in March 1947 , it moved to Holloman. I found this Volume 8, Number 2, Page 7, “Victors in the Cold War” June 2000 Association of Air Force Missileers , However, I can't locate any sort of official list of units stationed at Wendover Bwmoll3 (talk) 23:52, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
