Aime vs Acme

[edit]

Aime Nogal's Twitter page makes it clear that she sees "Aime" as the correct spelling of her first name, so the CNE spelling "Acme" would appear to be an uncorrectable bureaucratic typo that got into several serious news media. If someone thinks that "Acme" is actually correct, despite the subject's apparent preference for "Aime", then please present the evidence (in the Wikipedian sense). Armando.info says her legal name is Acme:[1] I'd trust their investigation more than the other media sources, although she may use an alternate spelling. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:29, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Some sources say she is likely to be sanctioned, so we may find out what other sources have officially. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:33, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Boud and here are copies of how it was listed in the official Gazette, with her cedula. And a government source. It appears more likely that her chosen nickname is Aime, but her legal name (by her cedula) is Acme. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:48, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
More state sources, that would presumably go by legal name on cedula: "presidencia.gob.ve" rnv.gob.ve SandyGeorgia (Talk) 13:59, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That seems to be clear enough. There's probably a policy somewhere about how to describe official versus common names in leads, but I think that what we have now is reasonable enough until someone checks the official policy. The CNE archived web page is official enough as a source, it seems to me. Boud (talk) 15:32, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think we're aligned well enough with WP:NICKNAME, and I set up the redirect at Acme Nogal, but naming isn't my forté. Thanks, Boud! SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:38, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
