[edit]His ethnic Turkish origin is disputed by Bulgarian media which claim that he is Tartar or Gypsy. --Vladko 05:09, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
"outstanding thief"?? I understand your indignation, however, this is supposed to be an encyclopedia, not a forum... Please insert a section titled "controversy" or "corruption allegations" etc. I will remove this "outstanding thief" part now...
If gas pistols are non-lethal then it wasn't an assassination attempt. Govgovgov (talk) 02:49, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Still too early to determine. The investigators should soon come up with the "official story". I'll change it to alleged assassination attempt for now. --Laveol T 03:39, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Per the comment above, please, refrain from dubbing it an assassination attempt. User Govgovgov is right in saying that such an attempt requires the usage of a lethal weapon. We will have to wait until the investigation results are announced before claiming something like that. We should stick to what we are sure of for now.--Laveol T 07:55, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
From the Associated Press story: "A gas pistol is a non-lethal weapon used for self-defense, but experts say when fired from close range it can cause life-threatening injuries." Link The intent was to kill. --Harizotoh9 (talk) 08:59, 20 January 2013 (UTC) Also, we go with what the sources say, not what we think is best. The sources are calling it an assassination attempt. --Harizotoh9 (talk) 09:18, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
Yesterday, they suggested, it was an assassination attempt, but today this version is no more actual. Jingiby (talk) 09:40, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- The AP clearly had less than accurate information on the case. Experts had already clarified the matter yesterday, prior to any lethal-weapon claims being added to the article. --Laveol T 21:17, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- I know the "official report" isn't out yet, but I have a couple of questions about the "assassination attempt." Do we know if the guy knew it was a gas gun/blank gun? If so, did he attempt to modify the gun to fire live ammo? The gun has been identified as a EKOL Volga which fires 9mm PAK blank rounds. It appeared to me that the pistol jammed because he attempted to fire a 9mm Luger (9×19mm Parabellum) round instead of a 9mm PAK round. The Wikipedia gas pistol article mentions the fact that they are designed to prevent the use of live ammunition. APS221 (talk) 22:00, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- We don't know the answers to those questions. We'll have to wait. --Harizotoh9 (talk) 22:17, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
