Accuracy/Content Dispute

In the "===Effects on adoptees===" section, the first paragraph is unsubstantiated:

"Adoption gives many children great opportunities that they may have never otherwise received. Such opportunities include loving homes and environments, parents who are able to provide and care for all their financial needs as well as access to education. While these are all positive factors that will enhance the life of the adopted child, many do not realize that there are negative effects adopted children can experience both mentally and emotionally."

The next two paragraphs do not cite any sources to substantiate claims, much of this section reads as opinion, not scholarship. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mjams (talkcontribs) 19:44, 21 January 2018 (UTC)

I agree. The whole section is unsourced. It expresses strong and unsupported opinions. It should be deleted. Dark Formal (talk) 20:14, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

Add 'citation needed' tags to the sentences you feel need attribution. Much of what's there is very similar to stuff I've read in the likes of Verrier, Pavao, and Lifton years ago. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 21:54, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
Tags have been added. The whole section is full of unsubstantiated claims. The main citation is to Ref 146 which contains two articles from websites with no basis for credibility, and one per-reviewed article which does not support most of the assertions in the section. Removing all of the "weasel" tags. "May" is used (correctly) because not every adopted person will be affected by all of the issues. I'll add citations in the near future for most of the cn tags and remove some of the other tags because what you're looking for is in WP:SKYISBLUE territory.
