Notability

[edit]

With no offense to Adelir Antonio de Carlis, doesn't WP:BIO1E apply here? - TheMightyQuill (talk) 15:48, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Actually, he was famous for lots of stunts in Brazil prior to this one. And this story made world news at the time and was/is much talked about as an (unsuccessful) example of cluster ballooning - Gobeirne (talk) 19:24, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Unless those other stunts he was famous for are included in the article, this is a one event biography, and suitable for deletion. Please expand it, asap. - TheMightyQuill (talk) 21:42, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adelir de Carli first became famous in 2006 when he denounced human rights violations against beggars in Paranaguá (the town he lived) [1] [2] [3][4][5]. Theses denunciations caused seven Municipal Guard agents and the municipal security secretary to be arrested [6][7].

Attempt to see angels?

[edit]

Catholic people from his church says he wanted estabilish contact with angels. Obvious this is not documented by press but is a true fact for who lived with him. --201.78.50.253 (talk) 11:43, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs to say where he took off from.

The details of his flight do not say where he started flying from. CrickedBack (talk) 04:11, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Lead

[edit]
  • Per MOS:LEADCITE, leads should generally not have citations.
    Done.
  • Remove "Brazil" in the "also known in Brazil".
    Done.
  • Him being a experienced skydiver isn't mentioned in the body of the article.
    Removed.
  • Explain how cluster ballooning would raise money.
    Done?
  • Add wikilink to port city. (MOS:LINKING is optional)
    Done.

Biography

[edit]
  • Add wikilinks to the cities (Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul and Ampére, Paraná). (MOS:LINKING is optional)
    Done.
  • Since it has a de, isn't his last name Antônio de Carli? If so, it should be used instead of just Carli.
"de" isn't included when you're referring to someone with a Portuguese name (see Portuguese name#The particle 'de').
  • When was his ordination?
    Reworded that sentence.
  • Is it known why did he became a priest?
I can't find a reason for it in any sources.
  • Remove the agents from the wikilink. (MOS:LINKING is optional)
    Done.
  • Remove duplicated wikilink from "Municipal Guard agents". (MOS:LINKING is optional)
    Done.
  • Was he involved in any religious organization, event or something along the lines since this is common in priests.
    I don't think so?
  • I know he is mostly known for the balloon event but is this all there is about his life?
    Pretty much.

Fatal cluster ballooning attempt

[edit]
  • Maybe try to trim the section title to just "Cluster ballooning event/attempt"? (optional)
    Done.
  • rest stop → rest area
    Done.
  • I don't understand how cluster ballooning would fund a spiritual rest area for truckers, you should clarify that.
    Clarified.
  • Here "de Carli" is used, independently if the above suggestion is true or not, you should try to be consistent.
    Fixed.
  • Per WP:SEAOFBLUE, don't wikilink Argentina.
    Done.
  • The second paragraph starts immediatly describing the new attempt, you should give context. For example, "On DD MM YYYY, before his second attempt, Carli held a mass..."
    Done.
  • What did he do in concrete to be expelled? Is it known? This phrase should be put in the Biography section since it's not that relevant to the cluster ballooning attempt.
Expanded it a bit, let me know if it's not substantial enough.
  • The quotation is in conformity with MOS:FOREIGNQUOTE.
  • Is there more information on his training? The training should be at the beggining of the section in order for the events to be in cronological order.
Moved. I couldn't find any more info about it anywhere.

Sources

[edit]
  • All sources numbers are from this version. Checked source 2, 9, 13 and 15.
  • Source 2
  • His mother died, this should be mentioned as the reason for him to move with his father.
  • Done.
  • He has sisters and brothers, this should be mentioned.
  • Done.
  • He wasn't only a gas station attendent instead he managed it.
  • The source only says that he was a "frentista", which translates to attendant.
  • "Convidado pelo irmão, gerenciou um posto de combustiveis"
  • That's referring to his father.
  • He was a defender of truckers and he "found the necessity" to spread God's message to them, this should be mentioned.
  • Done.
  • He was a very serviceable priest according to the many acts of service he did, this should be mentioned.
  • Done?
  • Indeed my question was answered, he was part of Pastoral Rodoviária'. Information about his work on this organization should be mentioned.
  • Done.

Image(s)

[edit]
  • If we must use a non-free image can't we at least find one with a bit more quality? Or is this the only one available? The map has a free license and a suitable caption.
The majority of good non-free images are from photo agencies (or they don't have enough info to be properly tagged), but I can try to find a more suitable picture.
    Couldn't find anything.

  • New enough (passed GA yesterday), long enough, well-sourced and BLP compliant. Earwig gives a 38.3% score but that's due to the quote. Presentable, hook is cited and ... certainly attention-inducing. QPQ exempt. and RIP. Cheers, --The Lonely Pather (talk) 23:53, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
