Talk:Adam Lopez/His C
The link provided says Adam Lopez is highest male with a D7. I have HEARD him pitch a B7, but not a C#8. Antares33712 13:37, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
His C#8?

- In fact, having demonstrated a C#8 on the Guinness World Records Austrailian TV show recorded on the June 4, 2005, he has out-pitched Mariah's famous G#7.
- The Guinness record is now held by Adam Lopez, singing an astonishing C#8 live on the Australian Television Broadcast of Guinness World Records.
- He currently holds the Guinness World record for both male and female singers with hitting and holding an incredible C#8.
And this is from the official Guinness page:
- The highest vocal note sung by a male is D7 by Adam Lopez Costa (Australia) at Seabreeze Studios, Annerly, Queensland, Australia, on 17 March 2003.
Do we need to modify the pages? Or is this record too new to be officially recognized? It is also currently discussed on Talk:Adam Lopez. Sorry, I know almost nothing about singing. I am totally clueless. -- Toytoy 13:59, Jun 8, 2005 (UTC)
- Question, if Adam Lopez hit an E8 (E four octaves above Middle C), which is higher than C#8 (the notes start C,D,E,F,G,A,B, then C one octave higher than the starting C, with a # being halfway between the C and the D), why isn't the Guiness Record for E8? I mean, if he hit the E8 on television, shouldn't he have gotten credit for the E8, not the C#8. If you listen to Minnie Riperton's You Take My Breath Away, the piercing, fresh from the Arctic high note she hits is F#7 for comparison. I don't doubt his abilities, I have heard and am convinced of his coloratura, but this is getting more contradictory by the second. Antares33712 15:34, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Without further discussion, here is the go with Records. If you sang an E59! on TV... this does not automatically give you an official acklowledgement by Guinness. You MUST submit such material to be validated. Officially a C#8 record HAS been made, filed and approved by Guinness World Records. The attached RECORDING of a 6 octave scale denotes a top note of E8. Technically this recording CAN be sent off to GWR and get assessed as to weather it is an authentic recording etc... As you can see the information that was added to the site ADAM LOPEZ at it's first phase is 2 years old and is totally inaccurate! I took the liberty to update the information as I imagine that keeping an article up to date is worth spending time on. NONE of the information supplied is FALSE. If this ridiculous discussion is going to make ignorant people make judgements, then I believe the best thing is to remove the article completely to stop any further complications.
- Good point, however could you please sign your statement, so we know who you are. I am a fan of Adam Lopez, and I believe (I have heard him pitch A#7 on some website), for me, it's just a matter of the discrepancy 'right now with the link and the article. Why is VfD worthy however, is beyond me? Antares33712 18:33, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I've been talking to Adam via email on this, and I would suggest taking the article back to the original information until it can be fully verified. From what Adam says, that should be possible in the near future. In the mean time, perhaps someone can revert back to the verified version? -- sannse (talk) 21:26, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- You've spoken to Adam Lopez? WOW!! You lucky thing. I LOVE him. If he says its just awaiting official verification, then its true. What is his bio information so we can enhance the article. birth date, place of birth, range, how he started singing? Antares33712 18:05, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Well, we really need to be careful using Adam as a source here. Verification of facts and identity are notoriously difficult on-line, much better is to get the information from an official website or similar. for the article to be not just accurate but verifiable, we need to be able to point to a website, or book, or recording and say "this is why we know this is true". I would say we should wait until we can verify all the facts. -- sannse (talk) 17:24, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Ordinarily, I may say yes, but I do not think we are merely a repository or summary of external websites. IF you have spoken to Adam, that should suffice for now. I mean, if Whitney Houston logged on here and said X and Y is wrong with her article, I SURE as hell will not tell her, do not replace the inaccurate information as it must stay, because it is verifiable through another website. I know this needs to be verifiable, but accuracy is equally important. There is already a link on freehosts were he can be heard singing A#7 (he sounds like a dog whistle). His new record cannot be ignored simply because it there isn't a link somewhere else to back it up, if you ARE indeed talking to Adam Lopez. If that were the case, all that Sanchez crap of last week would be verifiable (even if by way of a geocities site), thus includable? Antares33712 21:56, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I have an audio here of him doing a B8...almost an octave above his record.
