Darren, it is not a good idea for you to edit the article as there would be a Conflict of Interest. I don't mean to be mean but please do not edit the page. Sungodtemple (talk) 01:36, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Let's improve this page - can you help?

[edit]

Quite a lot of work needs to be done to improve this page as it currently falls short of the Wikipedia Style guidelines. If you are interested in contributing to this article please can you introduce yourself properly here giving a clear idea of what you feel you can contribute, if you have comments to make about the content of the page, please do so in here in 'Talk'. I apologise in advance to Cowplopmorris for removing 2 entries which were out of date.

Conflict of Interest

[edit]

Hi, I've tagged this article as a Conflict of Interest as I believe certain people affiliated with Action for Children have been editing the article. It no longer maintains a fully neutral point of view and is bordering on becoming promotional. I will edit the article to try and make it less so, but please help out if you can. Please remove the tag once it is neutral again. Thanks. -- CowplopmorrisTalkContribs 18:50, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A quick Google search on one of the major contributors confirmed that the individual is employed by Action for Children, and therefore in COI position. I've left a warning on the user's talk page. --Drm310 (talk) 15:19, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

History

[edit]

The History section contains a very close paraphrase of the Action for Childrens history page [1]. As such its really a Wikipedia:Copyright problems.--Salix (talk): 08:02, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Remove this page

[edit]

I think that this article has been helpfully flagged as, indeed, it doesn't present all of the facts. For example, many individuals either in-care with AFC or adopted through AFC found difficulty in accessing their own files, with social workers seemingly putting up many barriers to appropriate access. This was reported in The Guardian. There is also no mention that one of their previous 'Principal' officers or Chief Executive was found to have accessed records illegally and (for reasons of his own) had met those individuals that have given a child up for adoption without informing the adopted child. Unfortunately, AFC have never recognised such poor practice. Despite the Principal or Chief Executive being disciplined by his own church, AFC allowed him to leave all Trustee posts under his own cogniscence. Similarly, 'historically', AFC were also part of the somewhat appalling practice of sending children to the 'colonies' (Australia, New Zealand, Canada) where many were abused. Again, there is no mention of this and again, no apology was made. I would argue that this page should be removed. As it stands as mere advertising. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Randomised Trial (talkcontribs) 14:03, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My Best Friends

[edit]

If I remember correctly, there was a VHS released in partnership with the NCH called "My Best Friends", which included episodes of various children's programmes on it. Anybody remember that? I do... Visokor (talk) 10:16, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
