Things have been said, Rumors and what not that the legendary strain of marijuana, acapulco gold has been lost completely, extinct from this world so it can live on to the next. I had my heart set on this plant when it all came falling down at the terrible news of it being extinct. If there is a way to recreate this god of a plant then I will be willing to do what it take to make it so. This article is an exercise in mythology. Since Acapulco gold was traditionally grown outdoors, the image in the article is clearly some kind of indoor hybrid, and I suspect is not related to this strain in any way. Viriditas (talk) 14:05, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

In the 1970's I bought kilos of Acapulco Gold, and the weed was Golden colored with a lot of seeds. The shape of the Brick, or Kilo, approximately 4" wide,4" high, and 1'long.They were wrapped in light weight manilia bakery paper and masking tape. Most other Bricks from that era were 1 1/2" High, about 8" Wide , and about 1' Long, they were called "Bible Bricks". The Bible Bricks were wrapped with red or green Cellophane. Many times these Bible Bricks were soaked in Coca-Cola,to add weight and it was called sugar weed. Now the Acapulco Gold cost about 25% more than but was at least 5 Stronger. I bought some golden smoke that came with pictures of it growing, the latitued , longitude, and altitude (2,500'), If I remember correctly the location was on the Yucatan Peninsula, Very good , tasty, about half as strong as the Acapulco Gold. I also loved the Columbian Gold which was very smooth, and tasty, but still not as strong as the Acapulco Gold. I Loved the Golden smoke from yester Year and would like to see the return of it. There was stronger Weed out there like "Chocolate Columbian" but the high was very different, the difference being:Acapulco Gold and the other golden varities that I tried were like flying compared to the Chocolate Columbian which we joked that it"Zonked you so hard surgery could be done on you."The"Chocolate Columbian" was grown at low elevations, and the Gold at around 2,500'.My Father was in his sixties in the 1970's and he used Marijuana from the time he went through the Panama as a cabin boy in 1923, and he said the Acapulco Gold was the best he had used. Theory

I think this is true as well, there is no longer any commercially available Panama Red, Acapulco Gold, Columbian Gold or Columbian Red. Unfortunately the nasty little beige/white powder that is cocaine forced the growers of these fine plants to move into a more profitable business and what plants were left over died on their own or where exterminated by their country of origins government. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.158.214.176 (talk) 01:09, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

 There are some stories that are not verifiable in the same ways that other information is givin credibility. Other intrested readers that were around using Marijuana in that time can affirm or refute.   An example:A story about a man buying all the corn removal medicine in all the stores he could find it in. Why? because it was basically marijuana oil! There was a glass applicator and if one drew it along the side of a regular cigarette, it could be smoked in public and the squares wouldn't know. Now I don't know if the story is true, because I wasn't there. I know it sounds true, and the man that told me I believe.
