This page seems completely disorganised, and gives no indication of the relative ranks between the titles listed. (That being the information I'm trying to find.) It could really do with some attention. 111.87.58.155 (talk) 12:27, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Associate Professor"

[edit]

Some universities are now using "Associate Professor" as a replacement to "Reader". Some are also using "Assistant Prof" instead of "Lecturer", fully harmonising with the US system.

Recommend removing confusing and erroneous references to 'the Commonwealth'

[edit]

Like many pages on Wikipedia presumably authored by British people, this article makes a few redundant and generally confusing allusions to the Commonwealth. Putting aside that this really is a nebulous and now pretty old-fashioned concept outside of the UK, it just confuses things here given that almost every country outside the EU has a slightly different academic system. For clarity I recommend removing these references (including in the main table) and just focusing on UK academic ranks, as per the title of the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8003:1DC9:9701:E516:CE73:1635:F56F (talk) 06:44, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
