Lead

[edit]

A wiki article's lead sentence is supposed to have the form, A foo is a bar, baz, quux. This article's lead supposes we know what the title refers to before it has been defined. I have 'aboriginal' title to my car registered in the state of New York. Is the article about my car, somehow? How do we know the article is about dispossessing Indians of their lands? We need a better opening. Sbalfour (talk) 17:46, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Land litigation by tribe section

[edit]

That whole section tells me nothing. At the end of the day, who has/had title to what, and how did they get/lose it? I think it's reasonable to delete the whole section - I get it that aboriginal land titles in NY are contentious, but this list belongs in a research law article, not in the encyclopedia. The list itself might qualify as a kind of original research - what source says these cases have particular relevance to land titles? Checking other similar articles, Aboriginal title in <state>, I don't see bare lists of mostly tangential litigated cases. Someone needs to pare this list and justify what remains on it, i.e. by results. Sbalfour (talk) 21:59, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted the section. To reinstate, pare by relevance, and insert text as to that relevance, and cite source as to relevance. Sbalfour (talk) 22:15, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
