Eastons Talk

[edit]

I removed the "Eastons talk" template. This article no longer contains anything from Eastons that cannot be found in the texts of Scripture. Chronic2 (talk) 19:30, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect genealogy

[edit]

I have changed Rehoboam to the son of Solomon, not grandson. (see 1Ki 11:43).

I have changed Abijah's mother to the daughter of Absalom (see 1Ki 15:2).

There is some confusion with the latter, because Absalom was obviously known as Uriel too (see 2Chr 13:2).

Abijah's mother was the GRANDDAUGHTER of Absalom - in Hebrew, "daughter" and "granddaughter" are THE SAME WORD. Uriel was NOT a name of Absalom, and "daughter of Uriel" and "daughter of Absalom" are NOT contradictory; Uriel was either the son or son-in-law of Absalom. (Absalom's sons are not named BUT he only had one daughter, Tamar.) Similarly, "mother" and "grandmother" are the same word, so there is NO contradiction in Maacah description as the mother of both Abijah and his son Asa. And Maacah and Michaiah are different persons about as much as Elizabeth II and Lillibet are. Can we seriously get a better source Sweeney, someone who actually knows something about Hebrew linguistics? For that matter, can we cut the bullshit that no explanation is compelling? The claim that Abijah's/Asa's parentage is contradictory not only isn't compelling, it hasn't got a leg to stand on - not even crutches. --Jim Pleiades Hawkins (talk) 14:07, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
