Name?

[edit]

If the article named "Abdul Rahman ibn Faisal" tells us about a guy whose name is "Abd al-Rahman ibn Faisal", shouldn't it be moved thusly? ... said: Rursus (mbork³) 15:49, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Abd can be used as shorthand for Abdul. They are the same person
Actually, the article can be spelled as either "al" or "ul", and can be attached to either the second or the first word. So it is "Abd" (servant) + "al/ul" (article) + "Rahman" (mercy) in any way. --YOMAL SIDOROFF-BIARMSKII (talk) 09:27, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Abdul Rahman bin Faisal bin Turki Al SaudAbdul Rahman bin Faisal Al Saud – There is only one other individual named Abdul Rahman bin Faisal Al Saud, and he is called Abdul Rahman Al Faisal because he is from the family of King Faisal of Saudi Arabia. So it is rather redundant to have the name of this man's grandfather, Turki, in this article title (the custom with Arab names is that the person's name is followed by the name of their father, then their grandfather, then their great grandfather and so on.
