January 2006
[edit]I'm unclear how something is "unfounded" if a link is provided? Please stop reverting this article. You are welcome, on the other hand, to *reword* the paragraph to a version you feel is more NPOV, but do not simply delete it. Sherurcij (talk) (putting a story to the face, and a face to the name) 23:37, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- It's not a NPOV issue, it's the fact that this is a simply unfounded statement. There is one dated article (from a Google cache, and presumably not online anymore -- calling its reliability into question) about possible involvement that relies on either speculation or a single piece of testimony from one intelligence report. It is clear that the cause of this crash was pilot error, the possibility of terrorism has been ruled out completely by NTSB reports. Furthermore, there is not a single mention of Mr Jdey's possible involvement on the page of Flight 587 itself. If a mention of Flight 587 is made on this page, it should be in the form of a conspiracy theory sort of thing -- not a weasel-word copout -- because that is what it is. Crunk 00:14, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- As I said, I agree it's a bit of a weasel-word right now, so by all means go ahead and reword it...just don't delete it en masse, since it's important for anybody who googles his name and ends up here, to know that he's tied to the flight. :) Sherurcij (talk) (Terrorist Wikiproject) 00:21, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
"Jdey was either slated to be part of the 9-11 attacks (according to a recovered letter by Saif al-Adel or assigned to a series of second-wave attacks (according to KSM)." Remind me to find this letter, it's not in the Harmony database. Sherurcij (speaker for the dead) 02:39, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Anthrax
[edit]There are two sources right now stating that Jdey was fingered as a possible suspect in the anthrax attacks,
- Kupferberg, Chaim. Onlinejournal.com, The 'official' operative clique for the next 9/11?, August 11 2004
- Dillon, Kenneth J. Scientia Press, Was Abderraouf Jdey the Anthrax Mailer?
Therefore I am re-instating the removed information, which borders on vandalism by an anonymous IP address. Sherurcij (speaker for the dead) 18:25, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
138.88.94.207 (talk) 18:03, 27 February 2010 (UTC)Kenneth J. Dillon:
Because I am involved, I am mentioning this here for your consideration instead of trying to edit the text myself. The discussion of Jdey's possible role in the anthrax mailings case contains various errors, and there is a problem of a source. "Chaim Kupferberg" (CK) of footnote 18 is a person about whom no biographical information is available. Various Internet commenters think that it is an alias, and one surmises that CK is a pro-Israeli disinformation writer. At any rate, his writing is unusually tangled, allusive, and at times obscure. In the case of the article at footnote 18, he seems to be suggesting that a disinformation effort is being prepared that will purport to show that Adnan Shukrijumah and Jdey were connected with the anthrax attacks. The implication appears to be that Jdey was not involved in the 2001 anthrax attacks, contrary to what is stated by the Wikipedia article, but that a disinformation effort will make Shukrijumah and him out to be involved. CK also does not mention Jdey as the shoebomber of Flight #587 but rather treats him as still alive in 2004. It is accurate that "Some researchers" theorize that Jdey was the shoebomber of Flight #587, but a better formulation of the anthrax angle would be: "Historian and former State Department intelligence analyst Kenneth J. Dillon theorizes that Jdey was responsible for the 2001 anthrax attacks, which halted inexplicably several weeks after the second batch of mailings in October. He concludes that Jdey's purported suicide mission aboard Flight #587 may have been the reason." In the heading of this section, "December" should be changed to "November". A change should also be made in the second paragraph of the article, where anthrax is first mentioned.
