RE-WORKING ENTIRE ARTICLE

[edit]

I am in the process of fixing up the entire article- specifically, adding more characters and an actual plot summary. Suggestions and adding more to the info-box, or more pics, are definitely welcome. :) WhatTheFace? 01:28, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I've been Abarat-book-less for a while, but I'll have some more updates to do by tonight. WhatTheFace? 14:29, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the island descriptions, man. I made some changes to MM's character bio, and i'd like to remove the spoiler warning but I'm unsure if the "Carrion Fire" thing is a spoiler or not...Also, I think "Islands of the Abarat" Should be divided into a different page, possibly titled "The Abarat". As for the character bios....maybe someday :) P.S. I have a userpage too, but that four tildes thing...just look at the page please ^_^. P.P.S. I was the one who added the original Malingo character bio... LoganTheGeshrat 00:24, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

I have failed you all! I'm so sorry, I've been stuck without steady internet access for a long time. D': I am going to get going again, though. :D

Idea- A page for the book (like the DOM,NOW page) and a canon-type page with the island and character descriptions. Anyone else willing to help? Wndrby 17:59, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Islands?

[edit]

Anyone want to make a synopsis of each of the 25 Islands? Do they merit their own pages or just small descriptions (I think no right now)? I have fixed all the Islands with existing other definitions so they come back here, to Abarat. The Pyramids of Xuxux, Efreet, Obadiah, Gnomon & 25th Hour. Opinions? Viscouse 15:28, August 17, 2005 (UTC)

There are synopses in the back of the first Abarat that are supposed to be from Klepp's Almenak that are very helpful.

Abarat Userboxes

[edit]

I'm not sure if this is the place to put this....But I've made Abarat userboxes! I haven't made all of them though, but I'm sure you can guess how many there are going to be. They're on my Userpage, the one I begged you to look at earlier. --LoganTheGeshrat 22:56, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I just signed it now. At least it looks better!

characters

[edit]

its probably more sensible to put the characters on a seperate page, merge in the cindy article as thats a stub really and leave this article for the gepgraphy, background, etc of abarat. there should be another article on the book seperately really UKbandit 15:51, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

other locations of note

Abarat Islands

[edit]

Does anyone other than me think that the Islands of Abarat should have its own page? It is a really long section. Blackcat52 (talk) 18:56, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

see what i said in the first section above... i'd be willing to help. Wndrby (talk) 11:11, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If we do this I'd like to help as well.
--LoganTheGeshrat 04:42, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Wonderful. However I'm worried that it might not have enough sources to be considered notable and end up getting deleted. Blackcat52 (talk) 19:29, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree; this article is getting way too focused on the islands. If we have two articles, then it will be easier to focus on the summary of the first book. (Perhaps someone should add a split template to that section)Library Seraph (talk) 14:28, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest that if a new article is created, it should be titled "Abarat (series)" and have information which is common to the entire series, including the islands section and perhaps even most of the characters section. (Alternatively, it could be named "Abarat" and this article could be retitled "Abarat (book)".) This article could then have a brief section titled "Setting" with a 'see also' link to the series page. Also, if this information is not notable enough for its own article, I still think it doesn't belong in this one. Perhaps a general description of the islands would be better than this detailed island-by-island description. The article's just an overview of the book, after all. commissioned to write Abarat

[edit]

It's been a long time, but I think I remember reading that Barker was commissioned to write Abarat. Anyone have info on this?

According to this website, Barker began painting pictures in 1995 which he originally intended to use as illustrations for a 25-story 'Book of Hours'. As he continued to paint and develop the story idea, he decided it needed 5 books to tell the whole story. Augurar (talk) 22:10, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Split!

[edit]

I just decided to be bold and split this page. New page is at The Books of Abarat. There's a lot of work to be done to clean things up, so please visit that page's talk page to see a list of things I think need to be done. Augurar (talk) 23:57, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
