Vancouver Canucks

[edit]

Technically, Rome has yet to officially sign with Vancouver. However, I am unsure if the arcticle should be changed to reflect this, as NHL.com states a TSN report of the signing. However, nothing is official, so I would wait before we found out officially. 24.87.56.142 (talk) 02:23, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

General comments
  • Per WP:ORDINAL, you should probably write single-digit number (and perhaps all those below 20?) out in words, rather than digits.
    • Something I've always been a bit confused about. I wrote em out in digits as per the second exception outlined under WP:ORDINAL. Let me know if I understood it incorrectly..
Lead
  • Might be worth mentioning in the lead that he played reasonably regularly for the Canucks in the NHL.
    • Added a little something.. let me know if it's what you're looking for.
Playing career (Junior)
  • "..he registered 6 assists over 47 games the following campaign." – Missing a word, perhaps add 'in' after games?
  • "During his rookie WHL season, he played alongside older brother Reagan Rome as defensive partners for a short span.." – Forgive my confusion, but what is a rookie season? I always thought it was the player's first season: which in this case would be the season in which he played one game: 1998–99. I assume you are referring to the subsequent season?
    • Generally, a season won't count as a player's rookie year if they didn't play a significant portion of it. In the NHL, I think the minimum is something like 27 games. I don't know what the WHL's minimum is, but it's a pretty safe bet that one game wouldn't cut it. Should I add a note?
  • "Three games into the 2000–01 season, he moved from Saskatoon.." – rather than 'he' I think you should specify that you are referring to Aaron Rome here, as the last person you referred to was Reagan.
  • "blueline" will be an unfamiliar term to those that don't follow hockey: Link to Ice hockey rink#Lines, and per that page, it appears to be two words, not one.
Playing career (Professional)
  • "..he had a second opportunity to play with brother, Reagan Rome, .." – Missing a word here, add "his" after with.
  • "During the 2006-07 season, Rome was called up to Anaheim and appeared in his first NHL game on January 2, 2007, against the Detroit Red Wings." – I don't know if you have access to the information, but it would be interesting to know how much ice time he got, what his plus-minus was (especially if it was 2 either way: if it was 0, don't mention it!)
  • "After clearing, he was assigned to start the season with Syracuse." – What does clearing mean? Explanation, either via a link, or a footnote is necessary here.
  • "a one-way, one-year contract" – Similarly, what is a "one-way" contract?
  • "During a three-game stint with the Canucks that season, he played forward for the first time in his career." – Any details on why he did this: did the coaches see some spark of talent to play forward, or was it due to injuries?
    • Couldn't find an explanation in my initial google news search, but I'll keep trying.
Career statistics
  • This section needs referencing, otherwise it is fine.
Awards
  • As above, this needs referencing: it might be worth noting here (as above) that his name wasn't inscribed on the Stanley Cup.
References
  • News references (eg The Columbus Dispatch) need publisher and location details.
  • Ref 14 is formatted wrongly with italics.

I'll place the article on hold while you deal with the issues raised. Harrias talk 14:27, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for your review! I always appreciate other editors' time when the GAN log is so long for Sports and recreation. Anyways, I tried addressing your above issues as best I could. I added some notes where warranted, but am still in the process of finding references for the statements found in the footnotes. Besides that, let me know if there's anything else I can do in the meantime.. Thanks again! Orlandkurtenbach (talk) 10:13, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is Aaron Rome Jewish?

[edit]

"Aaron" is originally a Jewish name. Is Aaron Rome Jewish? Thanks in advance to anybody who knows. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.148.132.102 (talk) 11:46, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
