Delux Edition Album Cover

[edit]

Can someone add the delux edition cover to this article as well? 98.232.58.47 (talk) 19:31, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done! SelGKT (talk) 20:30, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Editing?

[edit]

I tried to make a change in the "Songs" section, but when I hit "[edit]", the editing page said, "Please do not edit here. Click Wikipedia:Article Incubator/A Year Without Rain and make your changes there." I'd like to know why it's asking not to make any changes. Is it OK to make edits anyways, or do the people at Wikipedia not want the page to be edited yet because it's such a "young" page, so to speak? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.127.187.91 (talk) 15:13, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed that notice.—Kww(talk) 03:03, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Track Listing

[edit]

Where did you get the official length track listing and the autors and producers? ... So... I´m wondering... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.239.75.103 (talk) 19:03, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You can find the official track listing here, http://selenagomez.com/news/year-without-rain-tracklisting But until [or just before] AYWR comes out, we won't know for sure Grace Ann (talk) 02:53, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, i was wondering (too)... It is supposed that the track "Intuition" is a collaboration but... with Miranda Cosgrove or Eric Bellinger??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by SelGKT (talkcontribs) 01:09, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sources say its with Miley Cyrus. But I don't know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jberg91 (talkcontribs) 23:23, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done Track length added. Thanks, Stickee (talk) 23:32, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Genre

[edit]

ummm... dont you guys think that the album should be classified as just Pop until its released? i mean sure selena said that its gona be reggae or whatever, but just because she said it doesnt mean its true, and i mean really the album hasnt come out yet! we dont know how the album is gona sound, so classifying it specific genres is like reeally stupid, the genres listed might be true, but we dont know, so i would recomend just putting pop until the day its released. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.139.117.90 (talk) 23:43, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen too much battling over genres, and personally ignore it now. My time can be better spent. But I DO see your point. Genres in the infobox, MUST be supported by text in the article from PROFESSIONAL reviewers with REFERENCES given so we all can go read them for ourselves. We are not to just put stuff on wikipedia that we think (guess) is true! It is true to say THAT Gomez SAID 'this or that' as long as you can give a RELIABLE source for it. That being said, of course, she can be in error...just like all the rest of us humans ;)—Iknow23 (talk) 04:28, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
EXACTLY!! 24.139.117.90 (talk) 18:35, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
ok know that the album came out, i can safely say that its not pop rock, nor reggae..spotlight is sorta reggae, but in an overall sense the album (at least to me) should be classified, Club/Dance, Dance-pop, Electropop, Synthpop...and i think it would be safe to skip out on the teen pop tag, no but really, this aint pop rock 24.139.117.90 (talk) 20:28, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You could certainly be correct, but everyone can have their own opinion. The ONLY way to prevent edit warring on this is for EVERYONE to defer to (as I said earlier) "Genres in the infobox, MUST be supported by text in the article from PROFESSIONAL reviewers with REFERENCES given so we all can go read them for ourselves."—Iknow23 (talk) 20:56, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest removing all genres until a full set of critical reviews is available. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 20:59, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Partially agree. IMO, genres could be added as the reviews come in. Of course they will have to be properly referenced, as ALL wiki material is to be. ;)—Iknow23 (talk) 21:56, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, very well put. That is what I meant to say lol =) -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 22:02, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, that's cool :) —Iknow23 (talk) 22:05, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
ok why the hek do they keep removing synthpop?!?! if it wer dancepop electropop only it would sound like ke$ha, and the whola album is full of synths! and how can u not deny synthpop like a year without rain, off the chain, ghost of you, intuition and spotlight, i mean really, then again thats my opinion, but still 24.139.117.90 (talk) 00:13, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Excuse me, but all of this is WP:OR. Anyway essentially synthpop is a derivative of electropop anyway. Both are based on synthesizers. Candyo32 00:17, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
i get were you are coming from, but i think that the albums sound is not completely defined by just dance pop and electropop, you might not feel the same way, but im just sayin that one more genre wouldnt hurt <synthpop> —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.139.117.90 (talk) 18:46, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The infobox needs to be limited. Every genre that pops up on the album doesn't need to be noted. The album's sound is defined by pop-based electronica and dance music, also known as electropop and dance-pop And as stated before synthpop is essentially a derivative of electropop anyway. This would be different if the album went into R&B or something but all genres are coming from pop in someway or some form and listing so many forms of pop is redundant when it basically comes down to electropop and dance-pop. Release date US or World?

[edit]

If the release date is supposed to be the US one, it's OK, but if it's the earliest anywhere (as with many CDs), then it should be the 17th and not the 21st of September, cause this is the release date in Poland and other Central European countries: http://www.empik.com/year-without-rain-pl-gomez-selena,prod58634942,muzyka-p —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.255.52.129 (talk) 09:15, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Answer = World. This is not just a US Wikipedia. (And I am in the US) :)
Will edit the article accordingly and Thank You.—Iknow23 (talk) 00:19, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
From Template:Infobox album#Released, "Only the earliest known date that the album was released should be specified; later release dates (incl. re-issues) can be mentioned in a Release history section."—Iknow23 (talk) 00:44, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Move

[edit]

This page should be moved to A Year without Rain because "without" is a preposition and therefore it should not be capitalized in a proper title. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 22:40, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nope. "Without" has seven letters, and there is a specific rule for prepositions of more than five letters at Wikipedia:Capitals#Composition_titles. Hence, "A Year with Rain", but "A Year Without Rain".—Kww(talk) 23:06, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The album charted at No. 22 in its first week source--79.216.157.240 (talk) 13:46, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

selena cowrote Summer's not hot","Sick of you"& 'Ghost of you' and wrote the song 'Spotlight' all by herself. You can check it at Disney channel 101 Writer of "A Year without Rain" album —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moodgo (talkcontribs) 09:02, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disney Channel 101 is not reliable. According to album notes, Gomez did not write for the album. Candyo32 19:34, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Genres, again and composition

[edit]

I completely understand the previous points made in the past discussion concerning the genres, however, synthpop is sourced, and electropop is not, and the album is obvious electropop, but like in the past discussion, electropop falls into synthpop as referenced in the synthpop page, i changed the genres to dance pop, synthpop since both are sourced with dance pop sourced twice in the critical reception part of the article, if anyone changes the genres because of the previous point then that person would be mistaken and would be doing original research since, again, electropop isnt sourced, so please and thank you. And also the composition area of the article seems split in two, with the first and second paragraph basically concerns similar topics twice, i would say to merge both paragraphs, obviously, using reliable references. Ive noticed that many of these selena gomez articles are biased and though they might contain some truth (concerning the composition and genres) they are still not sourced and they are albeit bold, ive changed the baised status of some of these articles with references, again, please do not change, and if anyone disagrees then please discuss your points and thoughts here BEFORE changing anything. My third and last point also concerns genres, since synthpop is sourced i will list the album on the synthpop albums category, because an album needs to be consistent thoughout the whole article, meaning if its sourced as synthpop it should be listed under the category, again, please discuss any doubts or thoughts here before changing the article, thank you 24.139.117.90 (talk) 02:29, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Deluxe Edition

[edit]

I removed the deluxe edition from the article and put it into its own page. ~ RomeAntic14 07:32, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Third single?

[edit]

Why do people keep adding Off the Chain as a single?! There is absolutely no reference for it whatsoever, there is no evidence! STOP ADDING IT, when you (whoever keeps adding it) find a reliable source that the song was in fact the third single, then i will stop removing it, but until then (and if you ever find any evidence) i will keep removing it. I truly do not understand why add it if it wasnt released, just because you want it released as a single doesnt mean it is, the album has only two official singles and thats it, so please stop adding off the chain.....btw the page for the song should reeally be removed, it has no references and it has like 3 sentenced, i really am trying to make this a better article, this is an encyclopedia, no a fan site or anything else 24.227.9.114 (talk) 14:09, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
