Cancellation

[edit]

Information on why this series was canceled would be appreciated. I've heard rumors it was because A&E wanted to become a reality-show network, and didn't have a place for scripted drama anymore. True? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.152.94.132 (talk) 12:34, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • At the time it was canceled, I read a print article somewhere (which I can't find similar info on line), that said that while one of their most popular (if not indeed their #1 most popular) shows, it was by far the most expensive show A&E had ever produced, and getting the advertisers, on that network, who would be willing to pay enough to make it profitable was difficult. If I could find a suitable citation for this, I'd make a contribution to the article to that affect. -Fish Man (talk) 13:47, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • This was indeed a gorgeous show and the interiors and costumes must have been quite expensive. I can accept the answer that it was unprofitable for A&E. But they wanted to do it right, and mostly, they did. (Article footnote: ""And Hutton, bless him, took pains to make sure that the stoop, meticulously recreated in a freezing Ontario warehouse soundstage really did have seven steps." They were all part of the conspiracy of being faithful to the original stories.) There are some minor plot changes, nothing that would cause any trouble for a Nero Wolfe fan, but I was jarred by Wolfe using "contact" as a verb in Prisoner's Base. That one somehow slipped through, or maybe it was an inside joke. 173.174.85.204 (talk) 18:21, 29 July 2017 (UTC) Eric[reply]

Glowing non-NPOV

[edit]

This is a well-research article. However, the overall tone (thinking particularly the second paragraph of the lede) is glowing and strays from maintaining a neutral tone. Additionally, the list of critical comments -- not integrated into overall prose, and just plopped there -- is unencyclopedic. The should be summarized, with quotes only as essential/relevant. --EEMIV (talk) 16:01, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A Nero Wolfe MysteryNero Wolfe (2001 TV series) – The current title is odd and ungrammatical. Yes, each individual episode of the show is labeled A Nero Wolfe Mystery... but the series as a whole is a collection of Nero Wolfe mysteries, plural. That is why the official DVD box set is labeled Nero Wolfe: The Complete Classic Whodunit Series[1] and why so many sources just call the show Nero Wolfe.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8] WanderingWanda (talk) 18:56, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
