[edit]a Note that this a history of Britain not the British Isles. Both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland are not part of Britain and, therefore, should not be included in the "Hstory of Britain". Although Northen Irish people are often refered to as being British, they are not: check any UK passport where it explictly states that it is a passport for Great Britain and Northern Ireland. -Unsigned comment from user:86.42.77.140
Actually Simon Schama made it pretty clear that he meant Ireland to be included.I remeber him saying something about how the earliest records used "Britannia" in this sense. It's made especially clear at the end of the episode with William and Mary and the Battle of the Boyne which had a speech something like "If this was a history of England that would be the end of the story but as it is a history Britain it is just the start," and playing out with clips from the Northern Ireland troublesA Geek Tragedy 13:00, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Expanded article
[edit]I have restructured and expanded this article. The new infobox was primarily designed for nature documentaries, but it works just as well for any other. If I feel up to it, I may embark on writing original episode summaries of equal length. (See those within Life on Earth or any of David Attenborough's 'Life' series articles for examples (I wrote all of those summaries except for Life in the Freezer, which I tidied and expanded). However, history is not my strongest subject and I would want to be certain that I could do all the programmes justice before I provide any for this article. Chris 42 15:28, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
The background sound overpowers the excellent commentary, rendering it almost unwatchable sadly. I’m giving up
