One night stand

[edit]

The little man had a one night stand with the first woman, but I strongly disagree the lyrics imply he's going to do the same to the barmaid. That is just the author of the comment's interpretation of the song, and seems like original research. They're clearly gonna go to her place after she gets off work, but what happens next the lyrics don't say. I think a plain and obvious reading supports that. Further interpretation about what happens next I think would need to be sourced to a notable critic or Harry Chapin himself to be supported in the article. - Gripdamage (talk) 17:23, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's pretty clear that he didn't want just one night with the first woman either. —Tamfang (talk) 22:44, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Watertown

[edit]

The last sentence under "Story" questions whether the bar or factory mentioned actualy existed is contradicted by the following section about the "Live version" and in the Watertown, New York article which states: "adjacent to the factories and river was a prominent saloon district". It also infers the tale is from Chapin's personal experience. Updating the sentence to reflect that. ColonialComputer (talk) 02:42, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
