Update

[edit]

I am currently updating this page. It might be somewhat sloppy at times, but it should look better than what is there. The information will be much easier to read and understand.

Mail Jeeps?

[edit]

Can someone add some info about the AM General produced Mail Jeeps? Wrath of Roth 18:12, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is an Advertisement

[edit]

At the bottom of the page until I deleted it was a "Trademarks" section. Trademarks! No other automobile company has a trademarks section, and the reason I'm so steamed about it is that this whole article reads like a bad brochure. I cant even begin to start, if it were up to me I'd butcher this whole thing. Can someone clean it and put it in prose?

It seems to be basically an advertisement for the Hummer. I'd like to know more about other products that AM General has manufactured. 66.234.222.96 (talk) 06:40, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:AMGen.gif

[edit]

Image:AMGen.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 17:18, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Future image inclusion

AM General "CCC" used by the U.S. Navy

I'just stumbled on this image but I haven't found a "CCC" model by AM General anywhere. Or why does the AM General vehicle bears a "CCC"? Does anyone has an explanation? If yes, we could use the image along with a suitable description in the article... --Scriberius (talk) 18:11, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Little involvement in jeep development beyond the engine

[edit]

Willys had nothing to do with the early development of the jeep, excepting its very real contribution of the "go-devil" engine. Anmccaff (talk) 06:58, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article is accurate. It does not say Willy's invented the jeep, it "developed a vehicle to U.S. Army's requirements", which means they supplied the needed engine. Removing 2 year old discussion request. --Blainster (talk) 21:46, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi folks - sorry, first real edit here - but I wanted to jump in - My Dad worked at AM General from the late 60's until 2008.

[edit]

I noticed some things that appear inaccurate - I will have to dig into Dad's files a bit to clarify..

The headquarters for AM General were not in Livonia for just 2 years. My father worked out of the livonia facility from the time it was opened until his retirement... I personally visited him there from the time I was a child in the early 80's until the early 2000's.

Also - I have extensive records (Pictures and product manuals / tech specs) for a few vehicles that Dad collected over the years - Bus programs, HMMWV, Mail Jeeps, etc. Please point me in the right direction to help if I can.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Escher 2 (talkcontribs) 00:08, 22 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Needs an update about winning the follow-on contract. (Feb, 2023) It will be a couple weeks before I can look at doing if anyone else wants to jump in. Nyth63 15:53, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
