Notability

[edit]

AICN Comics is one of the most notable and well-known websites about comics. This is illustrated by G4TV asking one of the writers to appear on its show. I added links to Newsarama where writer Dan Slott mentions it and quotes from a Marvel press release. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fantasticfour61 (talkcontribs) 13:06, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Those Dan Slott references are only trivial mentions and don't count towards notability I'm afraid. The bulk of the other references are to AICN itself so don't count either. It may indeed be notable but it still needs to be proved. (Emperor 20:50, 6 September 2007 (UTC))[reply]
I haven't really dug in here much re: notability.....but the Ain't It Cool News web site is alive and well as far as I can see. Bddmagic (talk) 18:36, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That being said...

I'm probably going to take down the request for deletion and run it through some good old fashion copy editing......looks like it needs it real bad.Bddmagic (talk) 18:37, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that what is essentially an extremely popular part of a web site has its own article here strains credulity.....however, let's just let it fly for now, shall we? Copy editing done.Bddmagic (talk) 22:08, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In rewriting this page, I've attempted to illustrate the distinction as to why this section of Ain't It Cool itself is deserving of a separate entry. The section is noteworthy because it grew grass roots-style from readership of Ain't It Cool and organized separately from Ain't It Cool. Ain't It Cool functions as it's publishing arm but exerts no direction or control of the content. That is all done independently from the Ain't It Cool organization. Beyond that, it's notability among the comics industry is deserving of an informational link such as this page because it is a highly trafficked section of the Ain't It Cool site, often the highest traffic, and is followed by those in the industry as one of the only sources of commentary that does not have the content controlled and limited by the public relations departments of the comic book companies themselves. The only observance of protocol by the team at AICN Comics is embargoes.
