June 2009

This is the first archive page ever created for our ABADA-Capoeira article's discussion. As such, it is small, and only contains all edits that are now old and resolved from June of 2009. Ryt 007 (talk) 18:16, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First discovery of the website, overall cleaning

[edit]

Ryt 007 (talk) 02:45, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Added martial art info box and information contained inside.
  • Re ordered and combined the ending sections.
  • Added categories and boxes to the end of the article, as well as external links.
  • Created entire discussion page.
  • Edited roda link to link to "roda (art)": more specific to capoeira.

First run through of grammar and content

[edit]

Ryt 007 (talk) 02:52, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Edited ACNYC link title to be more descriptive, accurate, and informative. Also put it earlier in the article.
  • Edited Mestre Pastinha's link title. Grammar issue.
  • Edited some very small, minor grammar / spelling issues. One main issue was the three commas separated between (this is an example) one, two, and three different words in a consecutive sequence. The third comma (in the preivious example, between the words "two" and "and") was missing a couple of times (2-4).

  • Added some links to words that had been just plain words, using wikis feature, can we link it?

Categories

[edit]

I went into the categories listings and altered things. Capoeira now has a subcategory called "Capoeira organizations" which is also listed under the "Martial arts organizations" subcategory. ABADA Capoeira, axe capoeira, and grupo brazil are on this Capoeira organizations category page. I wrote on the discussions of all related parties, informing them of this addition, including Capoeira itself. Ryt 007 (talk) 17:11, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia commons

[edit]

I added a wikipedia commons box to the bottom of this page. It links to the actual commons pages, which I also created, and a category about ABADA Capoeira. They look pretty sweet. Ryt 007 (talk) 17:11, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox

[edit]

Switched infobox to martial art schools instead of martial arts. It has more features. Added some information. Wish we had more specific dates, but I could not find anything online. Ryt 007 (talk) 21:12, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Just added a few links: toques, instruments, batizado, and Bira Almedia to help wikify the article. EDS4 (talk) 04:18, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comma rule dispute

[edit]

I have a question about English. What's the ruling on comma's in more than two words in succession? I always thought it was: Johnny has an apple, a bike, and a tree (with two commas). But I am constantly seeing the second comma left out. Is this the new way of writing? Either way, I will just glance over it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.72.206.62 (talk) 21:45, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comma Question: Cola, about your comma question. In the US, MLA and APA style, we do a comma before the and in a serial list of items. It is grammatically correct without the comma, but it's better to keep to one style for the whole page (So a good find on your part). In the UK they do not put a comma before the and.
