This is a problem that occurs elsewhere on wikipedia, the merging of a company and a record label. They are obviously not the same. The label typically persists through mergers and acquisitions, while the registered company can disappear when a merger or acquisition occurs.

The same is true for patents and copyright. A logo or name can within its business domain obtain a trademark. The trademark may expire if the registration is not kept up to date. An expired trademark is not permission to reuse something that is copyright which has a much longer shelf life depending on what it is?

So here I am 14-years later asking what you think was closed/expired in 1996? The label, the company, the trademark? If the company, which company? ~~~ Cathcam (talk) 19:59, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Spamming

Visitors, please note: this A&M Records page has been spammed by a company called On A&M Records. This article is linked and referenced several times (see the References section) to a commercial site that charges visitors for access to information, and these links here are being used solely to boost search engine rankings. Restructuring of article

I just restructured the article (added tags, removed a lot of bytes, etc.) Edit mercilessly, critique mercifully. --I dream of horses (talk) 01:54, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The recent edits to the article are not accurately supported.

The recent edits by Smarty9108 do not make any sense, and from what I can tell are not supported. The sources provided do not back up that A&M has been shuttered in the U.S., or that it has been reconfigured into a U.K. label that is now being distributed by IDJMG. The provided 'source' simply directs to the IDJMG website, with no additional citing for these claims. If a more thorough source cannot be provided, the article should be reverted back to the way it was. - The Real One Returns (talk) 15:03, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Mercury Records (under IDJMG) is distributing the A&M Records UK division which is only Duffy and Alex. All the US artists are with Interscope now. Smarty9108 (talk) 11:13, 20 August 2013 (CDT)

This still doesn't validate the claims made. It's common for artists to have different international labels under the same umbrella. That doesn't always make a statement about the labels operations themselves. None of your sources explicitly state that A&M is now a UK-only label that is handled through Island Def Jam. Anchovy & Mozzarella?

Wasn't A&M described (tongue-in-cheek or otherwise) as referring to "Anchovy and Mozarella" records, and not (only) the names of the creators? I seem to remember this being said on liner notes for an album (Mangione's Feels So Good, perhaps?) Anyone have a lead on this one? Jkp1187 (talk) 17:17, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
