The mystery of the 88th Infantry Division. The best American unit of the Italian front.
[edit]Section of a French officer in command of this division that makes for the most effective 7 US divisions deployed in Italy : http://war-and-business.blogspot.fr/2015/01/le-mystere-de-la-88e-division.html L'amateur d'aéroplanes (talk) 08:48, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
German view
[edit]The 88th was viewed as an "elite stormtrooper" division because they were a very effective unit and the Germans were very wary of them. This, much more than a shoulder sleeve insignia, is why Germans felt the 88th was a "stormtrooper" division. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saturn Five (talk • contribs) 02:15, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
