- They are not reliable sources. — YoungForever(talk) 19:57, 9 January 2020 (UTC)
- (Thanks for catching that I missed my sig.) If wikipedia considers IMDb an unreliable source, then a vast majority of far less reliable sources would follow suit, right? If wikipedia consider itself an unreliable source, then doesn't this all fall apart from there? — BoringJim (talk) 04:15, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- IMDb can actually be a reliable source depending on what you're citing, see WP:Citing IMDb. Respectively though this all relates to it being user generated, Wikipedia does not accept user generated content as a reliable sources. So by "
vast majority of far less reliable sources
" the first question I would ask is: are those sources user generated? Wikipedia falls under the same category because its content is generated by its users. Wikipedia is only used as a source on Wikipedia if/when writing about Wikipedia. If there was a specific claim on the Wikipedia page you were wanting to use here (citing WP as the source) it should be sourced to another external reliable source in which case you can use that to support that claim. Hope that clears up some confusion and let me know if you have any other questions, thanks! TheDoctorWho (Happy Christmas!) 05:17, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
