Captain William W. Scearce --an article?

[edit]

Hi, I would like to learn more about editing and contributing to Wikipedia.

William W. Scearce is an ancestor who is mentioned in an article about the 51st Indiana Infantry Regiment. Also I own a copy of a reference source that has been used on this page, "Hartpence, William R. History of the Fifty-First Indiana Veteran Volunteer Infantry: A Narrative of its Organization, Marches, Battles and Other Experiences in Camp and Prison, from 1861 to 1866 (Cincinnati: The Robert Clarke Company, Printers), 1894."

I feel that this puts me in a position to write a short article on Captain Scearce as an exercise in learning how to contribute to Wikipedia.

I believe that this meets the basic requirements for Wikipedia Articles. However, since I have no experience, I am asking here in order seek feedback and direction.

An alternative assignment could be to include more of the information from Hartpence, William R. History of the Fifty-First Indiana Veteran Volunteer Infantry: A Narrative of its Organization, Marches, Battles and Other Experiences in Camp and Prison, from 1861 to 1866 (Cincinnati: The Robert Clarke Company, Printers), 1894. in the article started here.

Please advise. Drmscearce (talk) 16:25, 18 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
