Solo article
I think Hyuna already needs her solo article because she had her solo career and she has too much information than the other members. Madz67 (talk) 16:24, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
- Done, created the article.
Korean singles
"Hot Issue", "Jingle Jingle" and "Superstar" are the only singles released by the group so far in South Korea. While songs like "Muzik" and "I My Me Mine" have recieved music videos, been performed live etc., they have so far never recieved a seperate release from their mini-albums. It's getting really tiresome having to undo edits made by random IP addresses. (Ref 1) (Ref 2) - Hayilim (talk) 11:45, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- A single does not necessarily have to be physically released to be considered a single. A "promotional" song is still a single. It can be noted that the other songs have had physical releases. SKS (talk) 17:25, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- That's true. However my "argument" is that so far there is no way of downloading these songs unless they're are downloaded through their respective albums, so essentially they're not singles. When singles are released they're given a separate release on a earlier/later release date. On my above references only "Hot Issue", "Jingle Jingle" and "Superstar" are listed as singles, the other songs must be downloaded from the albums. Hayilim (talk) 21:37, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
4Minute or 4minute?
I've noticed there are inconsistencies amongst the article.
"4Minute performing at Dongguk University festival." "4minute was announced in May 2009..." "4Minute released a mini-album called..."

Merging the other articles into this one
I understand why Hyuna would have her own page. She generated enough solo activities for it. The other members seem fishy and most of their pages are unsourced or has just trivial stuff. I don't know why people are so keen to creating separate pages for the members of a band. I think we should just redirect them to this one. What do you guys think? AhnSoonKyung (talk) 01:59, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
- I'm doing it since the other pages have no sources and they haven't generated enough solo activities on their own. SandylovesMicky (talk) 02:12, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Requested move: 4minute → 4Minute

4minute → 4Minute – The proposed article title for this Korean girl group is from the The Japan Times Online, which uses it here and here. These are the most mainstream English-language stories I could find where the group gets substantial coverage. The Korea Times, Amazon, and the group's own Web site also use the proposed form. Capitalizing the first letter of a proper noun is more conventional, and why would an encyclopedia want to use a less conventional form than the band itself uses? Chosun Ilbo and KBS use "4minute", while JoongAng Ilbo uses both. (See here and here.) Bloomberg, a news agency not otherwise known for its K-pop coverage, has a story that calls the band "Four Minute." Kauffner (talk) 05:32, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Names of the band members
The hyphen-in-the-given-name format is the standard way to transliterate Korean names nowadays. Even the New York Times has made the switch. The Korea Times, KBS, or JoongAng Ilbo all give the names of the band members in this format. See also the Wiki article titles for notable Koreans like Lee Myung-bak or Roh Moo-hyun. Kauffner (talk) 01:58, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
JiYoon = Main Dancer, HyunA = Lead Dancer
HyunA often stands in the middle / front ; she leads the dance. Her position as "Visual" also explains why she always seems to be the most important dancer, but she is not.
JiYoon is also often in the middle / front, but unlike HyunA actually gets more dance moves than the other members (solo dance in I My Me Mine).
HyunA LEADS the dance, but JiYoon is the MAIN dancer.
- Material added to article needs to be sourced, not based on observation of the band's videos. I don't see any English-language sources using this main dancer/lead dancer/visual terminology. Even on allkpop, which is more open to Konglish than an encyclopedia should be, she's just "4minute's HyunA" -- no band position. Kauffner (talk) 07:22, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
These group positions are pointless. Please read WP:Forum and WP:Fancruft. This shouldn't be discussed here at all as there are no sources about their positions. Bleubeatle (talk) 11:58, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- There are positions listed on their Japanese official site. I've posted and referenced that (Main vocal, Sub vocal (renamed to Vocalist), rap). Whether they are leads or supports beyond that is unknown. There are NO Dancer positions. AngusWOOF (talk) 00:46, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- By the way, Maknae (youngest) is NOT a position, and does not need to be stated as such, considering the birthdays are already posted. And even though PSY says Hyuna is the leader of 4minute, that isn't officially listed on the Japanese website. If someone can read and translate the information on the official Korean website, that would be helpful too. AngusWOOF (talk) 06:07, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
Associated Acts
Why are all these groups located at random acts? I assume that they are their because they are in the same company, but does that make them an associated act? I can understand why B2ST and G.NA are 4minute's associated acts, as they regularly feature on each other albums, do special-performances together and are all part of united cube. But APink and Huh Gak? Doesn't it make more sense to put artists they collaborated with as "associated acts": Brown Eyed Girls, Mario and Thelma Aoyama. Mitchie92 (talk) 20:01, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed! I removed the list of acts, keeping only Beast (B2ST) as they have two singles plus collaboration music tour appearances. AngusWOOF (talk) 01:01, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- Added G.NA back to the associated acts as she guest starred on 4minute's "Travel Maker" and "Mr. Teacher" TV series, as well as being grouped together on their tours. They, along with B2ST became ambassadors for a Korean airport. [1] and toured together in 2013 [2] and collaborated to congratulate boy band M4M in their debut [3] -AngusWOOF (talk) 19:30, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
Infobox image
The image is a print screen from the Volume music video but has a license which claims the uploader owns the copyright, which he or she clearly does not. Could someone please either change the license to a correct one, or remove/change the image? DragonFury (talk) 19:44, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Deadlinks to fix and citations needed
The article still needs a ton of citations. I can try to fill in some of the debut dates for the Japanese singles based on the 4minute Diamond insert, but would appreciate if others can fill in as much as they can to keep this properly referenced. Thanks! AngusWOOF (talk) 03:08, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Japanese stage names?
Should 4Minute's Japanese stage names be mentioned? They're printed on their Japanese official site. AngusWOOF (talk) 03:16, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Mention of Hyun-a's appearance in Gangnam Style videos?
A lot of non-K-Pop folk will arrive at this page to find out about Hyun-a, but not find a mention of her appearance in Psy's videos ("Gangnam Style" and "Oppa Is Just My Style"). That connection is made on her own page, but I've seen articles on "Gangnam Style" which refer to her simply as "the leader of the K-pop band 4Minute." It'd be a shame for someone to come to this page and leave confused. Maybe a simple statement "The band members have worked on multiple side projects, both solo and collaborative. Perhaps the most well known are Hyun-a's 'Bubble Pop' and her appearance in the Korean rapper Psy's video for 'Gangnam Style'." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.34.1.200 (talk) 11:19, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
- Bubble Pop is mentioned in the article. PSY has promoted Hyuna as the leader of 4Minute, but it does not mean she IS the leader, according to their Japanese official website. You can add a line about Gangnam Style in the 2012 section. It does not need to be listed in the lead section. AngusWOOF (talk) 17:00, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
- If Gangnam Style is helping to promote 4Minute as a group in the news articles, please cite those in preference to the ones that merely promote Hyuna. So far I've only seen the latter as with the Scooter Braun comment, the "Oppa Is Just My Style" video and the "Ice Cream" video. AngusWOOF (talk) 22:57, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
promotional details
Much of the promotional details for each single can be simplified to just its music video and single. There is no need to post dates for audio or video teasers, or when titles are announced, which can be relegated to the single article promotion section. The exception would be if the particular announcement leaves a large impact on the group or the industry. Anyway, the article needs plenty of references for the releases and chart results to support its claims. -AngusWOOF (talk) 03:50, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
What comeback?
The article talk about Volume Up being a "comeback", but I can't see any break in their work. Usually if you're making a comeback you were away from the business for a while, but I don't see that here. What were they coming back from? BashBrannigan (talk) 02:50, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
- Generally a "comeback" in Kpop terms means the group is starting another promotion cycle. That is, they are promoting on Korean music shows. In fact, 4minute is promoting both in Korea and Japan. Since much of 2011 was focused on Japan, the "comeback" here refers to comeback to Korea for promoting their song. I think there isn't another good terminology to use, but anyone who remotely knows Kpop should understand the term. Perhaps you can link to Kpop#Comeback Evaders99 (talk) 03:34, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hmm, good point about the "comeback" term being different. It threw me off as well, even though they used it in the reference. I linked it to the K-pop definition in the 2012 writeup. -AngusWOOF (talk) 04:33, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
4/25 or 4/26?
Can someone post the article that says the 4th mini-album will be released on the 26th instead of the 25th? -AngusWOOF (talk) 18:32, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
- Done Found the reference and integrated it into the article. -AngusWOOF (talk) 02:05, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
origin of name
Thought this was interesting on the MTV Korea website: http://www.mtvk.com/artists/4minute/ "4minute, whose name expresses their ability to command your full attention in just four minutes, is one of Korea’s most popular girl groups."
-AngusWOOF (talk) 20:47, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
4Minute on the beach
There's an album on spotify/iTunes called 4Minute on the beach. Can someone help fill in details on this? Is it an international, Korean, or Japanese release? -AngusWOOF (talk) 19:34, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
Member's stage name
Can we remove the resource for stage name? The resource that they put has no evidence that their stage names are "Ji Hyun or JI HYUN". ishaarontrinh (talk) 16:39, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
- Sure. Please go ahead and remove it. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 01:09, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
- Disagree. I have the actual Diamond booklet and also have seen the actual copy of Hit Your Heart 2nd mini-album and they use those stage names. -AngusWOOF (talk) 01:11, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
- I don't think these are reliable sources. They are also WP:PRIMARY sources. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 01:22, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
- Wait, what about WP:SELFPUB? If Cube has produced albums, booklets and posters that use their name stylized as two words (no hyphens), how can that NOT be a reliable source when talking about themselves? And my saying that "I own the album" is not the same as "I talked to 4minute and they told me this." Now, in the general case of whether stage names (or birthdays) should be mentioned, you can argue for the removal of that since they are using a K-pop nomenclature of just going by their given name rather than something like "Scary Spice" That's a different discussion altogether. -AngusWOOF (talk) 01:47, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
It's fine to nuke the stage names altogether. I really don't care. The Youtube trailer for What's Your Name shows Jiyoon. [4] The Japanese website shows Ji-Yoon with hyphen. [5] Albums and mini-albums show Ji Yoon or JI YOON. The stage name isn't anything out of the ordinary. It's like arguing whether it's HyunA or Hyun A or Hyun Ah -AngusWOOF (talk) 01:54, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you Angus. I agree. If there are so many different versions the edit-warring will never stop. It's better if they are gone. But I will leave it up to you. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 02:00, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
