Redesignation of the 30th Cavalry Recon

>>It was inducted into federal service on 16 September 1940 at Macon, and was and redesignated on 16 February 1942 as the 30th Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop while remaining assigned to the 30th Infantry Division. It was redesignated 11 August 1943 as the 30th Reconnaissance Troop, Mechanized. It was deactivated on 17 November 1945 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.<<

I am fairly certain that the 30th Recon was redesignated the 30th Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop, Mechanized, not the 30th Reconnaissance Troop, Mechanized, on 11 Aug 1943. I am almost finished writing a book on the unit and will verify my assumption and provide a reference.

As it is, I am good friends with a 91 year old man who served with this unit (the actual subject of the book) and he his records show the unit's name as I have mentioned.
